Today I’m super excited to share with you guys a Q&A I did with author Alison Bliss. Alison is a best-selling, award-winning author of humorous, contemporary romances. And let me tell you, her books are really good! Next to a Q&A Alison gave me the opportunity to host a giveaway for a signed copy of one of her books. Exciting!!

Hi, Maureen! Congratulations on your Five Year Blogiversary! Thank you for including me in the celebration. I’m thrilled to be able to participate and share in the fun!

• Tell us about your books?

Absolutely! I’m a bestselling author of steamy, laugh-out-loud contemporary romance. My popular Perfect Fit series features plus-size heroines and the sexy heroes who adore them, while my Tangled in Texas series takes place in the Texas backwoods and has a touch of suspense added in. All of my books can be read as standalones and are fun, steamy love stories with heart, heat, and lots of laughter.

• What do you enjoy most about being an author?

I love so many things about it. I love working from home so that I can be there when my children get out of school. I love that I can make my own schedule. I love being creative and coming up with fun characters who get themselves into all kinds of hilarious situations. I love that I get to write about falling in love over and over in so many different ways.

• What is the hardest thing about being an author?

The hardest thing about being an author is not being able to please everyone. What one reader loves about a book is sometimes exactly what another reader hates most about it. So it’s hard to always find the right balance. But all I can do is just write what I love and hope that others will love it too.

• Where do you get the inspiration for your books?

Inspiration can come from almost anything. From past experiences of my own to simply overhearing a conversation in a grocery store. I get many of my ideas just by being observant of my surroundings and writing down things that I find interesting. If I find it interesting, I figure my readers probably will too.

• Are you a reader yourself? If yes, what is your favorite book?

Oh, yes! I’m an avid romance reader and have been for years so picking just one book as a favorite is hard for me. I have too many favorites. It’d probably be easier to just say that Linda Howard is my favorite author and any of her books would rank right up there at the top on my list.

• Do you read the reviews about your books? If yes, what do you look for in a review?

Yes, sometimes. I love when a reviewer gives an honest review and lists what they liked and what they didn’t like about the book. I think that kind of constructive criticism is extremely useful to other readers who might be interested in reading the book, as well as the author.

• Is there a new book coming? If yes, can you tell us a little more about it?

Oh, definitely! There’s always going to be new books in my future. I actually just released Meant to Be (a Perfect Fit short story) and have two more full-length novels coming in my Perfect Fit series. I am also working on a new exciting cowboy series that I can’t wait to share more about in the coming months!
