My Review:

After I read the book description of ‘Nothing To Lose’ by
Darlene Fredette, I knew I really wanted to read this book. It sounded like a
fun and romantic book and a perfect read for a nice cold Sunday afternoon. I
didn’t really like the cover though. But I didn’t let it bother me for long and
started reading.

‘Nothing To Lose’ is the perfect example of a short novel
that makes you feel good. Jessie is desperately looking for a new job since she
has to pay her rent soon and doesn’t have any money to spend. So when Jessie
sees a job opening for a new baker at a small bakery, she decides to apply for
the job. But Jessie isn’t a baker and she doesn’t have any experience in baking
whatsoever. But Jessie does have experience in working her but off, and she
will do anything to get the job.
‘Nothing To Lose’ was a fun read. The writing is nice,
but nothing fancy and the story definitely felt kind of rushed to me. Because
the story is so short, it really felt like the two main characters Jesse and Travis
met and had a relationship before you know it. But it was fun to read about
Jessie and Travis. And I especially love stories involving bakeries. And the
bakery in this book, sure feels like a nice, cozy and tasty bakery.
Overall everything in ‘Nothing To Lose’ was a little too cliché
for my taste. But I enjoyed reading this book. It really was a perfect Sunday
afternoon read.

About the Author:

An avid reader since childhood, Darlene loved to put a
pencil to paper and plot out stories of her own. Her writing is a combination
of contemporary romance with chick lit flare, and a main focus as a plot-driven
page-turner. When Darlene isn’t writing, editing, or reading she enjoys
spending time with her husband, daughter, and Yellow Lab.
