Johanna Walker knows what she wants. And that's a strong, steady, financially secure man who will treat her well and look after her and her little brother, Cole - something her parents have never done. But when she meets the gorgeous Cameron MacCabe, a new bartender at work, Jo can't deny the instant and undeniable attraction she feels. Cam doesn't fit into her strict specifications of her perfect partner at all - but for once she is tempted to let her heart rule her head. And as their intense connection grows, Jo has to stop hiding the truth about herself and her family. Is Cam prepared to accept Jo for who she really is? And is Jo willing to let someone into her life for keeps?

After I read the first book in the On Dublin Street Series, which I loved, I just couldn’t wait to read the next book. So I bought ‘Down London Road’ as fast as I could and I started reading.

In ‘Down London Road’ we meet Johanna Walker. Johanna’s only mission is life is taking care of her little brother no matter what. This means she wants a steady financially secure man who treats her right, and who wants to look out for her brother too. But the moment Jo sees Cameron MacCabe, she knows he isn’t what she is supposed to want. But he is gorgeous, doesn’t care what people think of him and he makes her want so much more. Soon everything Jo always kept a secret about her family Cam witnesses in person, and everything changes.

The thing with a series, that exists of books you can read as a standalone, is that the first book can be great, and the second book not so much. But fortunately this was definitely not the case with ‘Down London Road’. Yes, it took me a little longer to really connect with the characters, especially with Jo, since she was such a different person than you’d expect at first. But this didn’t bother me all that much. It took me longer to really connect with them, but in the end I loved these characters just as much as the characters in the previous book.

The romance between Jo and Cam was really fun to read about and it definitely gave me all the feels. There was just so much chemistry between them. And I loved how they were so ‘real’. For example Jo. She had these insecurities I could easily relate to.  And although I wished she didn’t feel so low about herself at times, I got it.

Just as with the first book, I devoured this one in less than 24 hours. I just wanted to know what was going to happen next. I felt like I was a part of their world and I loved it. This is definitely one of my favorite things about a Samantha Young book. So much romance, but always ‘real’ romance. You can easily imagine these characters being real. No fairytales, just real life. And I love that.

What I also loved was reading about a view of the characters of the previous book. It was definitely fun catching up with them, and seeing them from another characters point of view.
