My Review:

Last year
I read ‘A Promise of Fire’ by Amanda Bouchet, the first book in the Kingmaker
Chronicles and I loved that book. So when I received the second book in the
series ‘Breath of Fire’ I was super excited and couldn’t wait to start reading.

The thing
I loved most about ‘A Promise of Fire’ was the characters. Cat and Griffin
where just such fun, different and amazing couple and their chemistry really
was coming of the pages. So when I started reading ‘Breath of Fire’ and found
myself reading about Cat and Griffin right at the moment I left them I was just
really happy. Again there was such chemistry, and reading about these two love
birds made me feel all tingly inside.

But soon
Cat and Griffin had to go on another dangerous trip and romance wasn’t really
on top of their priorities. Since it has been over a year since I read the
first book, it took me a little while to really ‘get’ all the magic and fantasy
stuff again. I kind of forgot about Cat’s abilities and many secrets. Somehow
those parts are always the once I forget the easiest. But after a while I
started to get everything again and I loved how exciting and thrilling every
page of this book was.

But I also
had some troubles with this read. Nothing major, but I really didn’t like the
whole needing to have sex with a god to be able to get through the tunnels bit.
Really? Nope, I just didn’t think that fitted the story. And I just didn’t get
it.
I also
felt like there was a little too much trouble around every corner. I get why it
was like that, but I still would have liked the story with a little less
trouble and trials etc.

Overall
this book was definitely another great one in the series. Although I love the
romance bit more than the fantasy part, I still loved reading every single
page. And I can’t wait to read the next book.

About the Author:

Amanda
Bouchet grew up in New England where she spent much of her time tromping around
in the woods and making up grand adventures in her head. It was inevitable that
one day she would start writing them down. Drawing on her Greek heritage for
the setting and on her love of all things daring and romantic for the rest, her
debut trilogy, The Kingmaker Chronicles, took form. She writes what she loves to
read: epic exploits, steamy romance, and characters that make you laugh and
cry.

A French master’s graduate and former English teacher, Amanda lives in Paris,
France. She met her husband while studying abroad, and the family now includes
two bilingual children who will soon be correcting her French.

her on Facebook and Twitter.

I received this book from the Little, Brown Book Group in exchange for my honest review.
