Review ‘Blurring The Line’ by Kierney Scott

A view weeks ago I was approached by Rebecca from Northern
Star Book Promotions and Tours with the question if I was interested in reading
and reviewing ‘Blurring The Line’ by Kierney Scott. Although I never heard of
this book or the author before, the book blurb immediately made me want to read
it. So is signed up and couldn’t wait to start reading.

In ‘Blurring The Line’ we meet DEA agent Beth Thomson.
Beth has been working on a big case for weeks. The DEA is trying to stop one of
Mexico’s deadliest cartels, ‘Los Zetas’ and expose their drug-running
into the United States. Now Beth is determined to recruit ex-soldier Armando
Torres as an undercover agent. With a little persuasion Torres accepts
the position. In exchange for Torres working as an undercover agent, Beth will
let him deal with the man who murdered his best friend.

Now two years later, they are finally getting closer to
ending the case. Torres has successfully entered the higher ranks of the
cartel, but this live is taking his toll on Torres. When Beth is in danger Torres
decides to help her out. Beth is the only ‘normal’ person is Torres life and
with her he feels more than what he felt with anyone over the last two years.

Beth knows Torres is not the guy she should be interested
in. But there’s an undeniable attraction between them. Can Beth really trust a
guy who’s been living inside one of the deadliest cartels in the world for more
than two years?

‘Blurring The Line’ was from the beginning a very interesting
book. It’s not just some romance novel. This book is filled with a lot of
thrilling and exciting parts and it was a very fun book to read. The chemistry
between Beth and Torres is super exciting and enjoyable. But the investigation
into the ‘Los Zetas’ cartel also keeps you on the edge of your seat. I just didn’t
want to stop reading but I also didn’t want this book to end.

The writing in this book is very good. It’s intriguing
and not to sweet. The strong connections in this book are good enough to make
the romance work without too much sweet and mushy language.

The character I liked the most was definitely Torres. I
loved how he seemed all wrong and bad at the outside, but when you get to know
him a little better you get to see that he has a lot of bad history, but he
still is a good person. He doesn’t want anybody to see this side of him. But
when you look closely, he definitely is a good guy. Torres lost a lot in his
life but still he finds the strength to care for Beth.

Beth was also a great character. I loved how she made
lists and how she tried to control everything. I could definitely relate to
her. Beth doesn’t trust anybody, but slowly on she tries to trust Torres. But
losing control is very hard for her.

This book is the first one in the The Firing Line series
and I really loved it. I can’t wait to read the next book in this series.
Especially knowing how this book ended. Major cliffhanger alert!

Originally from California, Kierney Scott moved to
Scotland to enrol in the Ph D programme in Educational Research at the
University of Edinburgh.

Four days after she arrived, she met her husband, who persuaded her it would be
more fun to get married than write a thesis. After the birth of her daughter
she decided it was time to go back to school, but soon discovered all she
wanted to write was romance novels. She admitted her literary proclivities to
her husband, who promptly bought her a laptop and told her to start writing her
book.
