New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Katee
Robert begins a smoking hot new series about the O’Malley family-wealthy,
powerful, dangerous and seething with scandal.

Teague O’Malley hates pretty much everything associated
with his family’s name. And when his father orders him to marry Callista
Sheridan to create a “business” alliance, Teague’s ready to tell his
dad exactly where he can stuff his millions. But then Teague actually meets his
new fiancée, sees the bruises on her neck and the fight still left in her big
blue eyes, and vows he will do everything in his power to protect her.

Everyone knows the O’Malleys have a dangerous reputation. But Callie wasn’t
aware just what that meant until she saw Teague, the embodiment of lethal grace
and coiled power. His slightest touch sizzles through her. But the closer they
get, the more trouble they’re in. Because Callie’s keeping a dark secret-and
what Teague doesn’t know could get him killed.

My Review:

‘The Marriage Contract’ was a book I was really looking
forward to reading. I received an email about this book weeks ago and I loved
the way it sounded. So when I received a copy and was finally able to start
reading it, I made sure I had the time to continue reading until I finished it.
In ‘The Marriage Contract’ we meet Callista Sheridan, the
daughter of one of the most powerful families in Boston. Callie has been
ordered to marry the son of her family’s rival, Teague O’Malley to create a
business alliance. The only reason Callie agrees to this arranged marriage is
the hope of ending the ongoing war between the families. But Callie and Teague
have never met and they both have some dangerous secrets. On the day of their
engagement Callie and Teague meet, and what they didn’t expect was to find safety
with each other.
What I didn’t immediately expected, after reading the
book description of ‘The Marriage Contract’ is that this book really has a
Romeo and Juliet kind of feel to it. But it does from the very first page. And
this was not necessarily a bad thing. What girl doesn’t like a Romeo and Juliet
kind of story? I know I do. And I definitely enjoyed this book about the
rivaling families.
The main characters Callie and Teague are really fun to
get to know. They both grew up in dangerous and powerful families, but what
becomes clear right away, it that they are both trying to make their families
better. They know about the illegal stuff their families are a part of, but
both, in their own way, try to make things right. Callie is kind and
hardworking and above all she really loves her dad. She will do almost anything
to make sure her farther is okay and her families business is thriving.
Teague is every girls biggest dream. He is kind, handsome
and he feels responsible for his brothers and sisters. Teague really tries to
find a way out of the family business and above all he tries to find a way for
his brothers and sisters to have a better life. Especially since Teague’s
farther is just horrible.
Although this book was a fun read, it was also
predictable and not as sexy and romantic as I would have hoped. The romance
between Callie and Teague was fun, but I didn’t really feel their connection as
much as I would have thought when I first read the book description. There was
some romance but most of all this book felt like a story about a family feud.
Throughout this book we also get some hints about the
next romance in this series. And that romance sounds even more promising than
this one to be honest. So I would definitely like to read the next book in this
series.

About the Author:

Katee Robert learned to tell stories at her grandpa’s
knee. Her favorites then were the rather epic adventures of The Three Bears,
but at age twelve she discovered romance novels and never looked back.

Though she dabbled in writing, life got in the way–as it often does–and she
spent a few years traveling, living in both Philadelphia and Germany. In
between traveling and raising her two wee ones, she had the crazy idea that
she’d like to write a book and try to get published.

Her first novel was an epic fantasy that, God willing, will never see the light
of day. From there, she dabbled in YA and horror, before finally finding
speculative romance. Because, really, who wouldn’t want to write entire books
about the smoking-hot relationships between two people?

She now spends her time–when not lost in Far Reach worlds–playing imaginary
games with her wee ones, writing, ogling men, and planning for the inevitable zombie
apocalypse.
