Ever since I started reading the Sutter Lake series, I have been hooked. Every single book in this series has been a 5 star read for me. They are just amazing!! Beneath the Wreckage (Wrecked, #5)

This was one of those books I was looking forward reading for a long time. ‘Beneath The Wreckage’ is the fifth book in the Wrecked series, and I have absolutely adored every single book in this series so far. So when I got the opportunity to read ‘Beneath The Wreckage’, Piper and Hunter’s story,  I couldn’t wait to start reading as soon as possible.

In ‘Beneath The Wreckage’ we meet Piper. Piper is returning to the Island she visited with her family when she was growing up. It was the perfect place, and Piper and her best friend always dreamed of living their someday. That is until her best friend disappears. Now, years later, Piper is determined to make her childhood dreams come true in honor of her best friend.

Back on the Island Piper meets Hunter. From the moment they met, its clear there is a lot of chemistry between the two. But both Piper and Hunter have a lot of stuff to get through.

Well.. even though this is already book five in the series, this series is still as good as the start. From the moment I started reading I couldn’t put it down. The two main characters Piper and Hunter, where so fun to get to know. Piper is this hardworking tough woman who doesn’t stop until she gets what she wants. And Hunter is the same, but he is also someone who takes care of the people he loves. And soon Piper and Hunter grow closer and closer.

The romance and chemistry between Piper and Hunter is amazing. It’s a slow burn romance, which kept me hooked and I simple couldn’t get enough of them. Hunter is one of those characters that made you wish he was real. Sigh..

Next to a great romance, the suspense in this book was pretty damn good too. There is a lot happening around Piper, and I had no clue what was going on till the very last page. I love that. This book pulled me in right from the start, and I just wanted to keep on reading. Both Piper and Hunter are definitely one of my favorite couples.

‘Beneath The Wreckage’ was another five star read for me. I loved everything about it and would definitely recommend it. What a great series the Wrecked series is. I hope there will be more books.

Beautifully Broken Life (Sutter Lake, #2)

Beautifully Broken Life (Sutter Lake, #2)

Catherine Cowles is one of my favorite authors. And whenever I get a little room in my reading schedule, I try to read the books by my favorite authors I still have to read. So since book five in the Sutter Lake series will be coming soon, I really wanted to read ‘Beautifully Broken Life’. This was the last book in the series I still had to read.

In ‘Beautifully Broken Life’ we read the story of Tessa and Liam. Tessa has been living in Sutter Lake for two years. This is the first place Tessa felt save in a very long time. But in order to be safe Tessa is determined to stay of radar. And she definitely is good in it. But when famous singer Liam starts hiding in Sutter Lake as well, things are getting more complicated. Tessa is desperately trying to stay away from Liam as much as possible. But there is a connection between these two that is hard to ignore. And Liam is determined to make Tessa see he is one of the good guys. Unfortunately Tessa and Liam can’t hide forever, and soon their past in catching up on them.

From the moment I started reading ‘Beautifully Broken Life’ I was completely hooked. I loved the previous books in the series, so I expected it to be good, but this book was a lot better than I thought it would be. The two main characters Tessa and Liam where amazing. I loved them both so much. Tessa is this kind, scared woman who is trying to get her life back. Her story was just so horrible and touching, and I loved how strong she was. I definitely was rooting for her. And Liam? Well.. what a guy he was. I loved him from the moment I read the first few words about him and I loved him till the very last page. He is definitely a very swoon worthy guy.

The chemistry between Tessa and Liam was amazing. I just couldn’t stop reading about these two. It was definitely a slow burn romance, and I loved it. There honestly wasn’t a thing about this read I didn’t like.

After reading this book, I read all four books in this series. And I can honestly say it’s one of my favorite series. So good! The Sutter Lake series is a standalone series. And I can definitely agree you can read this books out of order. ‘Beautifully Broken Life’ was an amazing five star read!

Beautifully Broken Pieces (Sutter Lake, #1)

Beautifully Broken Pieces (Sutter Lake, #1)

I’ve been loving the books by Catherine Cowles for a while now. And I’ve read two other books in the Sutter Lake series before. So when I got the opportunity to read ‘Beautifully Broken Pieces’ I dived right in. In the previous books I read a little about Taylor and Walker, the main characters of this story. So I was really curious how their story would go.

From the moment I started reading ‘Beautifully Broken Pieces’ I was hooked to the pages and had trouble putting it down. Taylor has been trying to move on after her mother passed away after her battle with cancer. But being surrounded by her friends who look at her with sadness, is definitely not helping. So Taylor decides to take a break and stay in a little cabin in the small town of Sutter Lake. There Taylor meets Walker, a cop who has also been through loss himself. Walker is immediately enchanted by Taylor and is determined to break through her walls. But there is also a killer on the loose and soon Walker and Taylor find themselves in danger.

There honestly isn’t anything about this book I didn’t enjoy. The two main characters Taylor and Walker where really fun to get to know, and I loved them from the start. Taylor is really sad about her mom dying and doesn’t know how to move on from it. And who can blame her? When she meets Walker she is determined to keep him at a distance, scared that she will care for him and he will leave her too. And I really felt for Taylor and could understand her actions.

But my favorite character was definitely Walker. What a great guy he was. A hardworking cop, a loving son, brother and uncle. I loved everything about that guy. And the chemistry between him and Taylor was just amazing. It sure made for a great romance that gave me all the feels.

Next to the romance, there was also some suspense going on that kept me sitting on the edge of my seat. And I loved that about this book and this series in general.

Catherine Cowles definitely knows how to write some memorable books and this book is an example of that. A great romance and some intense suspense. ‘Beautifully Broken Pieces’ really was amazing and I can’t wait to read more books in this series.

Reckless Refuge (The Wrecked Series, #4)

I’ve been a Catherine Cowles fan for a while now, and I’ve read a lot of her books. Catherine’s books are always packed with emotions and suspense filled moments that keep me on the edge of my seat. So signing up for an ARC of ‘Reckless Refuge’ wasn’t really a question for me. And when I received my copy I started reading ASAP.

In ‘Reckless Refuge’ we read the story of Shay and Brody. Shay has had a very traumatic childhood. I mean you can’t even imagine the life she had. She is twenty three years old and is living and working as a caretaker for a privately owned island. Her past has left her unable to make friends and connect with other people even though she desperately want things to be different. But when Brody becomes the new owner of the island, he soon starts taking down all the walls Shay has built. Because Brody has had his own trauma that changed his life for good. But Shay’s walls have been there for a reason. And soon things are turning grim for the two.

This book was definitely something else! And I loved it from the moment I started reading, till the very last page. I seriously don’t know how Catherine Cowles comes up with these stories. I mean.. wow! Shay’s past is unimaginable. And I was super sad, angry and slightly fascinated by her past and her family dynamics.

Shay’s character was definitely my favorite. I just loved everything about her. I loved how tough she was and how hardworking. She lost everything as a kid, but she tried her best to make her life good for herself. Although Shay lived kind of like a hermit for a while, I was impressed by how she did manage to live her life.

And then Brody.. Well.. He was also a very fun character to read about. An artist who lost his muse. Sigh.. The romance between Shay and Brody was definitely very enjoyable and I enjoyed every minute of reading their story.

One of the best things of ‘Reckless Refuge’, except for the romance and the two main characters, was reading about some of the characters from the previous books in this series. I loved reading about their developing friendships. But no worries if you haven’t read the previous books.. It isn’t necessary at all.

‘Reckless Refuge’ was another great read. It had the perfect romantic angst combination I love in a book. And I for one can’t wait to read the next book in this series.
