Julian

If I ever caught on fire, Dahlia Muñoz would fan the flames with a smile. So, when she returns to Lake Wisteria, I fully intend to avoid the interior designer. At least until my meddling mother exploits my savior complex. The faster I help Dahlia find her creative spark, the sooner she will leave town. But while I was busy getting rid of Dahlia, I overlooked one potential issue. What happens if I want her to stay?

Dahlia

People say the devil has many faces, but I know only one.Julian Lopez—my childhood rival and family frenemy. I vow to steer clear of him while recovering from my broken engagement, but then the billionaire makes an irresistible offer. Renovate a historic house together and triple our profits. Our temporary truce becomes compromised as we face years’ worth of denied attraction and mixed emotions. Giving into our desire is inevitable…but falling in love? That isn’t part of the plan.

After reading the first two books in the Dreamland Billionaires series by Lauren Asher, I knew I wanted to read every book out there by this author. So when I saw the sign up for an ARC of ‘Love Redesigned’, the first book in a brand new series, I signed up as soon as I could. I honestly never expected to be picked for an ARC.. But when I received the email telling me I got picked I was so excited and I dived right in.

In ‘Love Redesigned’ we read the story of Julian and Dahlia. Julian and Dahlia have always been a part of each others life, seeing that their moms have been best friends for years, and they grew up in the small town of Lake Wisteria. But they have never been friendly. For years Julian and Dahlia have been trying to stay away from each other. But when Dahlia comes back to town after her broken engagement, they are forced to spend more time together. And more importantly now they are forced to acknowledge the feelings, and emotions they have both tried to deny for years.

‘Love Redesigned’ was a fun start to a new series. The setting of Lake Wisteria was one I immediately loved. A small town, with a lot of history and some amazing Lake houses.. I bet Lauren Asher has some great stories in store for us in this town. And this first book was definitely fun.

I loved getting to know Julian and Dahlia. There was a lot of history between them and their families have always been very close. I must admit I didn’t feel the chemistry between them right away, but I was interested in their story all the same. Especially since I loved reading how real these characters where, struggling with real life emotions like for example depression. It gave this book something extra and different.

A lot of Julian and Dahlia’s history together, could have been totally different if they communicated a little better. But although this would normally frustrate me, because I really don’t like reading about miscommunication a lot, in this story it fitted. Their miscommunication was partly because life put them through a lot, and it was understandable and kind of relatable.

The one thing that bothered me a bit throughout the book, where the Spanish bits. Although they are translated at the end of every chapter, I hope this is done differently in the finished books, because it distracted me a lot. I wouldn’t know what something meant until sometimes five pages later. This didn’t really work for me.

But overall ‘Love Redesigned’ was a fun story, with a great romance and a very fun setting. I already can’t wait until the next one in this series.
