I pushed the button. I ended a friendship. Now I’m haunted by the images from that night. And I have no idea how to heal the part of my heart that is fractured.

My friend was wise beyond his age, he knew me more than I knew myself. The career, the money, the promotion, they all seem futile now. I’m stuck with no idea how to turn my life around. Until I receive a package that opens my eyes to new possibilities. And dreams I never thought I should reach for.The journey has one endgame: find happiness again and my place in this world. After driving for weeks, I end up in Green Mountain, a small town in Tennessee, a far cry from my hometown of Chicago. And then I meet her. Dahlia Ellis. My soulmate. My other half. My true purpose.Even in my wildest dreams, I would never have thought that she was where I was supposed to be.

Will the bond we share from the first time our eyes locked enough to seal our destiny, or will the ghosts from our past get in the way?

After reading a few of the previous books in the Carter Hills Band series, I knew I wanted to read all the books in this series. So when I got the opportunity to read ‘Whiskey and Country’, I simple couldn’t resist. And when the time came to finally start reading, I was super excited.

In ‘Whiskey and Country’ we read the story of Nick and Dahlia. Nick has lost a special friend, and feels completely lost and unsure of what to do with his life. Luckily for him, his friend made sure that Nick would find his way. With a bucket list of his lost friend in his hand, Nick decides to leave his current life behind and see where live takes him. After a few weeks he finds himself in Green Mountain, where he meets Dahlia. From the moment Nick and Dahlia meet their chemistry is flying of the pages. There is just something between them, that everyone can see. And it’s amazing to read.

We read about Dahlia in ‘Princess and Country’, and now her story continues in this book. And although they are both standalones, I’d definitely recommend first reading ‘Princess and Country’. It made this book all the more special to me. I don’t think I would have ‘felt’ Dahlia’s story as much if I hadn’t read ‘Princess and Country’.

And boy did I feel this book! This book was definitely an emotional read. It was romantic, sexy and above all a beautiful story about two people who lost and hurt, but found peace with each other. Nick was definitely my favorite character in this book. I loved everything about him. He was just so good, and loved with his whole heart. He definitely was a swoon-worthy character. I really felt for him when he lost his friend in the beginning of the book. It was just so touching.

This book is definitely a bit on the long side. Especially the beginning was a bit long, and some moments throughout Nick’s journey to Green Mountain I think I could have gone without. But in the end I understand why it was in the book. It made this book special, knowing  and understanding Nick so well. But it sure was long, and I was happy when Dahlia finally made it to this story.

‘Whiskey and Country’ definitely was a great read I enjoyed. I can’t wait to find out what’s next in this series.
