Years later, entrenched in a soulless professional routine, she distracts herself from the lingering regret of her decision with a “work hard, play hard” lifestyle that guarantees no man will ever find his way into her heart again. Cameron Bridge has spent the past five years married to the military, trying to escape the painful memory of losing Maya. After fighting his own war in the desert, he starts a new life in New York City, with his siblings, Olivia and Darren, by his side. When fate brings Maya back to him in the heart of a city filled with its own hopes and shadows, can Cameron find the girl he once loved in the woman she’s become? **This is a standalone story with no cliffhangers.**

When I was browsing through Netgalley and saw the cover of ‘On My Knees’, I just had to click to find out what this book was all about. Yes, I never heard about Meredith Wild or the Bridge series before. And I have no idea why not?! So after I read the book description I knew this was a book I needed to read. And I was super excited when I got approved to read it.

In ‘On My Knees’ we meet Maya and Cameron. Maya and Cameron where extremely in love in college. But when Maya couldn’t say yes to Cameron’s marriage proposal, their relationship ended badly. Now, 5 years later, Maya has a busy job and a lifestyle that makes her heart unavailable for men.  She lives her life going through the motions, trying to make the best of it. But then one day after 5 years, Maya and Cameron find themselves in the same city at the same moment. And all those sparks that where there years ago are still there when they see each other all those years later.

‘On My Knees’ was from the very first page a book that kept me hooked. We start the book reading about Maya and Cameron in college. And when they broke it off I just got so sad. But heck, I only knew them for 2 or 3 pages. I mean what? That’s definitely my kind of prove that a story is going to be good. And it was.

I loved reading about Maya and Cameron, and how they met again after all those years. Life has been pretty hard on both of them and when they see each other again, they both handle it very differently. Maya wants to run the other way, and Cameron sees it as a sign they are meant to be. And it was definitely Cameron who worked hard to make Maya trust him again. I loved reading about their journey.

I mostly loved Cameron’s character. He was such a sweet and sexy guy. And he loved Maya so much. I loved reading about him, and honestly thought at times he deserved so much more. Why? Well because Maya definitely wasn’t a very easy to like character for me. I found her so frustrating at times. The way she dealt with things, and the way she just seemed to want to be the martyr. I had trouble liking her at times.

Luckily the romance and the chemistry was just so good, it kept me hooked from the moment I started till the very last page. There where some pretty sexy moments and also a view side characters that where definitely interesting.

This was a very emotional, charming, sexy and sometimes frustrating read. And I loved every minute of it. I can’t wait to read the next book in the series.
