Pieces of Us (Angel Sands Book 6)
Title: Pieces of Us (Angel Sands Book 6)
Author:
ISBN: B084FJKVCK
Goodreads Rating: 4.81
Welcome back to Angel Sands, where there’s a new visitor in town… With her divorce decree fresh in her hand, Autumn Paxton can’t wait for her new life to begin. But she doesn’t plan on making a drunken purchase of a pier on the other side of the country. Thanks for nothing, tequila. That’s the last time she lets herself go. Whale boat captain, Griff Lambert, is as laid back as the small beach town he lives and works in. Nothing phazes him, except the gorgeous New Yorker who’s new in town. As soon as she steps foot on his boat, with her hot-as-sin body, he’s a goner. Maybe a fling could work. Enough for them to work through their desire and get back to business. Even if both of them secretly want more. But Autumn’s powerful father is pressuring her to return to New York, and isn’t afraid to force the issue. Making her choose between the life she once had, and the one man she can’t stop thinking about. Will she make the right decision?

Ever since I first read about Griffin in one of the other books in the Angel Sands series, I knew his story was one I would love. There was just something about the handsome, aquaman like, commitment- scared good guy that really me wonder about his story. And luckily for me, I loved the story of Griffin and Autumn right from the start.

Griffin has had a hard time growing up. Being a kid, and having parents that seem to care about anything but themselves? I can’t even imagine. And luckily his past didn’t make Griff a hard or unkind person. The only thing is that he doesn’t believe in love. But who would after the childhood he had? But from the moment he saw New Yorker Autumn on the Pier in the Angel Sands, he was mesmerized by her beauty and kindness.

Autumn is used to hard working and pleasing everyone around her. There is rarely time for her to do more than working and pleasing others. But when her loveless marriage ends in disaster she finds herself buying a Pier and moving to Angel Sands. At least for a little while. Autumn’s life has always been fast paced and busy. And being in Angel Sands and meeting some of the people who life there, she realizes there is much more to life. And when she meets the handsome Griffin, she is instantly attracted to him. But they come from totally different world, and there are many reasons why they shouldn’t work.

Carrie Elks definitely did it again. I loved ‘Pieces of Me’. From the moment I started reading I loved the two main characters Griffin and Autumn. They have this connection right from the start, and I really loved them. They start out as friends, and soon find themselves feeling more and more for each other. And I really enjoyed getting to know them.

Just as in the previous books in this series, characters from the previous books in this series make their appearance. And I loved that! You really don’t have to read any of the other books in this series, to understand this book.. but the fact that I know the stories of these characters is just so fun.

I loved the setting of the small town Angel Sands, and I really can’t get enough of it. So I was super excited to read there will be another book in the series about Lydia, Autumn’s little sister and Jackson, Griffin’s friend. I can’t wait to read that book too.

If you’re looking for a fun, romantic, small town, perfect summer time read.. ‘Pieces of Me’ is perfect for you.

Autumn looked up to see the man from last night ambling down the pier, his hands pushed into the pockets of his jeans, the ocean breeze lifting his thick brown hair. Damn if her heart didn’t do a flip at the sight of him.

Not her type. Not at all.

Yeah, tell that to her libido.

A half-smile pulled at his lips as he leaned on the rail and looked at her. “Sorry I’m late. We were delayed coming back from a trip. I’m Griffin Lambert.” He pushed himself off the rail and held his hand out to her. “But most people call me Griff.”

Griff. It was the perfect name for him. Strong and gruff and maybe more than a little bit rough. It took everything she had not to shiver. “Hi. I’m Autumn Paxton.” She slid her palm into his, feeling the warmth of his skin as his fingers folded around hers. It was absurd how tiny her hand looked in his.

With one squeeze he could probably break every bone.

“Shall I… ah… let go now?” Griff asked. She looked down to see her fingers still curled tightly around his hand, even though he’d relaxed his grip. She quickly pulled her hand away.

It took her a moment to regain her equilibrium. And in that moment she blamed the divorce, the ocean air, and even that damn angel Captain Paxton saw centuries ago. Because this was so unlike her.

She didn’t get flustered, especially not by a guy. She was Autumn Paxton. She was in control.

Check out my reviews of the previous books in this series:

Carrie Elks writes contemporary romance with a sizzling edge. Her first book, Fix You, has been translated into eight languages and made a surprise appearance on Big Brother in Brazil. Luckily for her, it wasn’t voted out. Carrie lives with her husband, two lovely children and a larger-than-life black pug called Plato. When she isn’t writing or reading, she can be found baking, drinking an occasional (!) glass of wine, or chatting on social media.
