This week has pretty much flown by. I had to work three days this week. The hospital has been showered in gifts since the start of the Corona pandemic. On Tuesday we got some flowers, and on Friday we got some Rituals stuff (shower gel, and hand cream). There’s also been a lot of baked goods and chocolate. It’s all super kind but we also don’t really know how to react. We are all just doing our job.. But we definitely appreciate the kindness. This upcoming week I’ll be working my first two shifts on the Corona ward.
Next to work, I signed up for a workout/lifestyle program that starts this Monday. It’s time to take a little care of myself. I’m excited and anxious to start really. It’ll be hard changing my food and lifestyle habits.
Reading wise things are still going good for me. I’m 13 books ahead on my Goodreads challenge, and I’m definitely enjoying most of my books. I finally got my new Jennifer L. Armentrout book on Friday (look how happy I am at that photo LOL) and I simple cannot wait any longer to read it. So I’ll be reading it this weekend. I’m excited!
How are you guys doing? Are you guys still on lockdown? Here the lockdown is still on, but if you ask me people aren’t doing it as well as they should be. When I went to the grocery store the other day, it was packed with people. And I’ve seen several neighbors hanging out in their yards without keeping the required distance. It seems like people are starting to think we can go back to how things used to be.
I hope you guys are safe and finding time to read.

Yay for the new Armentrout! 🙂 We’re still on lockdown here, although people are protesting which kinda baffles me, since the whole point is to limit the spread. Seems rather early to just stop! Anyway hope your new week is a good one, and be safe on Corona duty. I’m glad people are showing their appreciation to medical workers since you’re all putting yourselves at risk for the public. Take care!!
I agree Greg. Although it feels like we’ve been on lockdown forever.. I can’t imagine how things are going to be back to normal soon.
Stay safe and happy reading.
I know collections have been taken here to do something to show appreciation for the medical workers as well. I imagine it does seem odd given it’s your job, but these are extraordinary times.. Hopefully hospital conditions are better where you are than they are here in the US. The lack of resources is appalling and the US government is a joke.
I hope the workout/lifestyle program goes well for you!
We are still on shelter in place orders and everyone in the county is required to wear a face covering when out in public. I really don’t see it letting up any time soon. I’ve seen in the news people who are protesting that their freedoms are being taken away with the lockdowns. Churches are suing the local and state governments for preventing them from gathering. It’s like people don’t truly grasp the situation.
Daisy Does It Herself caught my eye. It sounds like seething I might like. I hope you enjoy all your reads.
Take care, Maureen! Stay safe and well.
So far I can tell from the media and reading posts from all over the world our hospital conditions are pretty damn good. Although we have some trouble getting resources, we still have enough.
Stay safe Wendy and happy reading.
Oh I understand how people are getting restless about the lock down. I am glad you are getting showered with gifts and kindness at the hospital, you guys deserve everything.
That’s sweet Gayathri. Thank you 😉
You guys may just be doing your job but right now it’s a dangerous one and people appreciate that and everything you are all doing. 🙂
Our lockdown got extended for another 3 weeks… Feels like it will never end and it won’t if idiots don’t properly social distance! 🙁
Enjoy your Armentrout book! I really want to get my hands on that one at some point!
It definitely feels like an unending thing.. I just hope things will get back to normal one day.
The Armentrout was sooooo good.
I am glad you are being showered with gifts. Quite right, too! What a shame that people are being idiots about social distancing… have to say that here, most folks seem to be very mindful. Though we’re all told constantly that keeping apart protects our NHS and stops it from being overwhelmed, which I think is exactly right. Happy reading this weekend, Maureen:))
It’s definitely very kind.
Stay safe and happy reading.
Maureen, it is lovely to hear people have been bringing in gifts to thank you for all you and your co-workers hard work. I also hope your first duties on the Corona ward go okay.
We’re still on lockdown here, it is weirdly quiet when I go out to do my food shopping, although there is some queuing at the supermarkets. I am also on the rota, one day this week, at work. I work at a school and few members of staff come in each week to look after the couple of children of key workers we have.
Schools are starting back up here on May 11th. I’m curious to see how that goes. It will be the first things, that starts back up.
Stay safe and happy reading.
We’re still on lockdown and intend to stay that way even if 45 does try to open things up. We don’t have to go out mostly. I’m glad you have great things to read.
Stay safe and have a great week! Happy reading!
Anne – Books of My Heart Here is my Sunday Post
Stay safe and happy reading Anne.
So nice that people are showing their appreciate for you and the others at the hospitals. I’ve always admired nurses and doctors for all that they do. I spent a lot of time in the hospital as a kid and always had the nicest of nurses and doctors. The time spent in there is made more bearable with a caring team! A thank you to you from across the pond! 😉
Nice new reads! I’m finding myself reallllly longing to get a physical copy of From Ash and Blood! LOL. I told myself I could get one when I had the option to get a signed copy, until then I’ll just have to read my ebook version, though I’m much more of a real book girl. Especially with really loooooong books! It’s weird, I know.
Hope you enjoy the all of the lovely new reads!!
Here’s my StS
Have a GREAT day!
Old Follower 🙂
From Blood and Ash was sooooo good. I can’t get enough of it! 😀
Stay safe and happy reading.
Good luck with the Corona ward! I’m glad you’re getting gifts. You deserve them. I’m on lockdown, and I wear a mask when I go out (because the governor told us to), but most other people don’t. It’s disappointing because my parents are high risk. I don’t want them to get sick because other people are being inconsiderate. Have a great week!
I can see why that is dissapointing. Here a mask is only mandatory for health care professionals.
Stay safe and happy reading.
I’ve never read Armentrout’s books, but judging by your happy face, the author looks like someone to explore.
Good luck at work, and stay safe and well.
Here are my WEEKLY UPDATES
Jennifer Armentrout’s books are really good. I love them.
Stay safe and happy reading.
How nice that you’re all being given gifts. I know you say you are just doing your jobs, but people are more appreciative now than ever for people like you who are “just doing their jobs.” It can’t be easy and I’m sure it’s stressful. So you deserve the pat on the back. 🙂 I have my copy of From Blood and Ash and am so excited to dive in!
Ah thanks Tanya.
Stay safe and happy reading.
We are still on lockdown for three weeks but given our numbers are so low now it’s likely the rollback will start from then.
Enjoy your new book, and the gifts of appreciation
Wishing you a great reading week and good health
Stay safe and happy reading Shelleyrae 😉
