My Review:
more than a year ago I read ‘The Pact’ by Karina Halle. I loved that book so
much. So when I came across the audiobook of ‘The Offer’, featuring the brother
of the main character of ‘The Pact’ I knew I just had to have it.
Offer’ we meet Nicola Price, a young single mom who doesn’t have it easy.
Nicola can barely offered her small and horrible apartment, and now she lost
her job. Too proud to ask for help, Nicola is struggling to get by. When she
meets her best-friends husbands brother Bram McGregor she immediately knows
he’s trouble, but his charms are hard to resist. And soon Nicola learns there
is more to Bram than meets the eye.
of ‘The Offer’ itself, was one I really liked. I loved the two main characters
Nicola and Bram. They were both very different, but they were feisty and fun
and I loved the obvious chemistry they shared. I really enjoyed reading about
Nicola, as a single mom. She was struggling, and working hard to make
everything work. She wasn’t perfect, and I think I loved her character more
because of that.
Bram.. If you look through his big mouth and overly sexist sentences you see he
really is a nice and charming guy. Especially in the beginning I found him just
too arrogant. I honestly needed a bucket in case I had to throw up after
hearing him talk. Thankfully, I got to know him a little better and he became
much less arrogant. In the end I definitely loved him.
wise I really needed to get used to the Scottish accents. Don’t get me wrong, I
love accents. But especially the female narrators accent, Nicole Poole took
some getting used to. Somehow it made me feel a little uncomfortable. Every
time I started listening to the book I needed at least ten minutes to get used
to these accents, but thankfully then I definitely enjoyed listening to it.
Somehow just everything sounded dirtier with the accents they used, and not
necessarily in a good way. But beside that.. Antony Ferguson definitely had a
nice voice to listen to.
definitely enjoyed ‘The Offer’. But I think I’d have loved this book even more
if I just read it in print.
