The world’s gone to hell, and her only chance of survival
is the sexy, dominant soldier determined to keep her safe…
that’s what she’s doing now, hiding out in her apartment and avoiding her
neighbours: once privileged Mosman residents, now flesh-eating braindeads,
thanks to the virus that’s turned her world—and everyone else’s—to hell.
with the newly secured Base he and his loyal commandos control the only safe
place in the city. But the Base has needs that he can’t meet—doctors. And women.
So when he discovers Ruth and her two friends in an unsafe apartment, he brings
them back to Base where he knows he can keep them safe, and where he will do
anything to make them stay.
Captain’s methods for making sure she stays put don’t gel with her fierce
independent streak. But the world has changed, and Jack will make Ruth
understand that he is in charge and that her survival is more important than
her control-freak tendencies—even if he has to chain her to the bed to do it.
My Review:
excited to get the opportunity to read this book. The cover looked beautiful and
the whole concept of a romance between a doctor and a dominant soldier in a zombie
wrecked world really sparked my interest. It sounded like a fun twist of ‘The
Walking Dead’ and I couldn’t wait to start reading.
beginning of the end of the world when she was working as a doctor in a
hospital. A lot of patients turned into ‘braindeads’ and now Ruth and her two
friends have been stuck at their apartment for a view months. Hiding from the
braindeads and hoping to survive. When Captain Jack Lang rescues Ruth and her
friends she isn’t as thankful as Jack would expect. Ruth isn’t used to being
told what to do, especially not by men. But now she has to accept that Jack’s
in charge and that he is the dominant type and doesn’t take no for an answer.
me. I had a lot of expectations about this book and the beginning with how Jack
‘rescued’ Ruth and her friends felt off to me. I didn’t like the way Ruth’s
friends were all in for going away with strange men and being their property. I
probably felt just the way Ruth was feeling about being manhandled. It felt
wrong and a long way from the romance I was hoping to read about.
me. The two main characters Jack and Ruth began to connect more and I really
started to get why they were the way they are.
concept. I’ve read a view books about the end of the world in which people
changed into a sort-of zombie, and this was a nice change to those books since it
also involved some romance. It’s not like there was a lot of actual fighting in
this book but the whole ‘braindead’ concept really made this a fun read.
found them a little strange I did enjoy reading most of them and I think these
scenes fitted the main characters perfectly. Not what I expected but not bad.
ending was exactly right. Overall I did enjoy the last half of the book and I
do think back to a fun read.

okay, I have to admit, the concept sounds interesting. Glad the ending picked it up!
Although it was different than I expected.. it really was an interesting read. Not like anthing I read before.
I am not a fan of zombies, so I usually avoid zombie books. I think zombies are creepy and I don't think I would enjoy reading about them, but maybe I just have to give a few books a try once. This does sound like a good one. That's a shame the beginning felt a bit off and disapointing. It's great the characters grew on you and the ending was good. Great review!
The zombies really didn't have a big part in this book. You know they were there and that the world was different because mankind was being threatened by this disease.. but there wasn’t actually a lot of talk or interaction with the zombies. This definitely made this book nice to read.. otherwise I also think I would have liked it less.
