Every action has its own consequence…

Cora Whitley has learned the hard way that there are some
choices you can’t escape, you merely survive. And she is, surviving that is.
She’s living, breathing, eating, sleeping, working, all of the things you do
when all you’re trying to do is get from one day to the next without truly
remembering who you were.

Jake Ferrari recognizes Cora the minute he sees her. Maybe it’s because somehow
he knows she’s as broken as he is, or maybe it’s because when he looks at her
he sees that the life he thought was over when his elbow blew out and his
pitching career came to a halt can now be something different. Something better
with her.

But nothing comes for free, not even love. Follow Cora and Jake as they piece
together their lives and deal with the consequences of falling in love with the
one person they know they can’t have.

Includes mature content.

My Review:

A little while ago I received ‘The Light of Day’ in
exchange for my honest review. ‘The Light of Day’ is the first book by Kristen Kehoe
I read, and since I loved the book description I couldn’t wait to start reading.

In ‘The Light of Day’ we meet Cora and Jake. Both have
been struggling with their past. When Cora and Jake meet everything changes.
They both have been on a self-destructive
path and now they don’t know how to get away from it. Although their lives are
very different they both are desperate for the same thing: to feel, love and to
belong.
From the moment I started reading ‘The Light of Day’ is
was hooked to Kirsten Kehoe’s writing style. Her writing is fun, insightful,
honest and totally addicting. This book is written from both Cora and Jake’s
point of view and I loved that. This book is filled with raw emotion and
through reading both Cora and Jake’s sight of the story it made me feel every
bit of emotion even more.
Cora and Jake are both characters who need a little
saving, but what they didn’t expect was that they could save each other. The
relationship between Cora and Jake is so fun, sweet and at times so emotional
to read. I loved how they made each other better from the moment they met, even
though they didn’t realize it at the time.
The character I liked the most in this book was Jake. Not
only is he a handsome, sweet guy, but he is also a reader and studies English
literature. (Who wouldn’t love a guy like that?) And above all I loved how he
treated Cora and how he was able to share his feelings with her. I loved how
Jake was able to ‘feel’ what Cora needed from him and the way he was so ‘tuned’
into whatever was going on with her.
I just couldn’t stop reading this book and I really loved
everything about it. I loved how the story developed and how the relationship
between Cora and Jake slowly became more and more intense. And I also think the
cover is really beautiful.
This book definitely gets my recommendation and I can’t
wait to read more books by Kristen Kehoe.

My Rating:

About the Author:

I am the youngest of three daughters and I think this is
the reason I enjoy writing about love so much.

I come from a family of high school sweethearts, save myself (thank God), and I
have watched how finding love, the real kind, can make a person stronger. My
parents have inspired me every day because they found each other at eighteen,
got married at nineteen, and never looked back. Now, 35 years later they are
still going strong and it makes me realize that love really does aide us in all
things.

I write young adult books because I think it’s the time period in our lives
that is the most difficult and I enjoy love stories because we all need hope.
Reading about love gives me hope, so I hope my writings about love do the same
for any reader who happens to glance at the pages.

I have a daughter, a Great Dane, and a beautiful husband. I love books, coffee,
and my family…and shoes. Just saying.
