He was the boy from the wrong side of the tracks. She was everybody’s princess. Ten years later, he’s back in town and this time he has something to prove. Aiden Black never thought he’d return to the small beach town he grew up in. But as the new director of a luxury resort, he’s determined to make it a success. What he doesn’t expect is to run into an old flame, the girl that got away. Single mom, Brooke Newton, cares about two things. Taking care of her son and helping out at the local animal shelter. Until she’s sent on a mission to save an endangered dog, and comes face to face with the only man she’s ever loved. As soon as they meet, the attraction between them reignites. But Brooke has a secret – a big one – and she has no idea how to tell Aiden. As lies are exposed, and truths are told, they’re determined to take advantage of this second chance. It’s a shame not everyone in town has got the message…

I’ve been a big Carrie Elks fan for a while now and I’ve been loving the Angel Sands series. So when I saw the sign up for a review opportunity for ‘Sweet Little Lies’ I couldn’t resist and signed up as fast as possible. I devoured the first two books in this series ‘Let Me Burn’ and ‘She’s Like The Wind’. So I was over the moon when I got an ARC to read.

In ‘Sweet Little Lies’ we meet Brooke Newton. Brooke is a single mom and working hard to get her college degree. After getting her son when she was still very young, she is determined to finally get her life on track without help from anyone. But when her first love, Aiden Black suddenly gets back into town after suddenly disappearing ten years ago she is both terrified and secretly excited. Excited to see the guy she loved so deeply, but terrified he will find out her secret.Aiden was the poor guy and the one who’s family only made trouble. Now he is very successful and determined to show everyone how well he is doing. But seeing Brooke again after all these years makes him feel things he isn’t prepared for.

Well.. This book was definitely another great one. I had been looking forward to reading Brooke’s story ever since I first read about her character in the first book in this series. And although I was a little anxious to finally read her story now, because how could it be as good as I hoped? – I also couldn’t wait and dived in as fast as I could. And thankfully it was really damn good.

The chemistry between Brooke and Aiden is flying of these pages from the start. And I just loved them. Brooke is a character that’s easy to like. Although she grew up rich, she definitely isn’t one to accept things without working hard for it. She is determined to get a degree and take care of her son on her own. I just loved how tough and loving she was.Aiden is also very kind and hardworking and there characters really where made for each other.

What I also loved about this book was reading about the friendship between Brooke and the characters from the first two books in the series Ember and Ally. There friendship is definitely great and something to be jealous off.

Yes, ‘Sweet Little Lies’ was a great read. And probably my favorite book of the series so far. And now the big question that’s been going through my mind.. Will there be more books in this series?

Carrie Elks writes contemporary romance with a sizzling edge. Her first book, Fix You, has been translated into eight languages and made a surprise appearance on Big Brother in Brazil. Luckily for her, it wasn’t voted out. Carrie lives with her husband, two lovely children and a larger-than-life black pug called Plato. When she isn’t writing or reading, she can be found baking, drinking an occasional (!) glass of wine, or chatting on social media. For more information about Carrie please visit her website. Or visit her on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. Or sign up for Carrie’s newsletter.
