Today I’m super excited to have Alison Bliss in the ‘Sunday’s
Author Spotlight’. Alison is the author of one of my favorite books of 2014 ‘Rules
of Protection’. This book is a sexy contemporary love story and it’s also
really funny. On Goodreads this book already got an average rating of 4 stars (out of 5) and on Amazon an average rating of 4.6 stars (out of 5).

Some rules are meant to be broken…
It’s rule breaker Emily Foster’s birthday, and like
everyone at The Jungle Room, she just wants to get some action. Unfortunately,
she stumbles on the wrong kind, witnessing a mob hit. To protect her, she’s
entered into the Witness Protection Program with by-the-book Special Agent Jake
Ward as her chaperone.

When the location of their safe house is compromised, Jake stashes Emily deep
in the Texas backwoods. The city-girl might be safe from the Mafia, but she has
to contend with a psychotic rooster, a narcoleptic dog, crazy cowboys, and the
danger of losing her heart to the one man she can’t have.

Jake’s as hot as he is infuriating, and she can’t help but push all his buttons
to loosen him up. Their mutual, sizzling sexual attraction poses a dilemma:
Jake’s determined to keep her safe and out of the wrong hands; she’s determined
to get into the right ones—his.

This book is available at Amazon, Barnes & Noble, Kobo and Itunes.

Interview with Alison Bliss:

Tell me about who Alison Bliss is?
Alison is a stay-at-home mom who loves to read.  She
first realized she had a passion for writing when her sister dared her to
write her own book after Alison spent an entire week upset and
fuming over the ending of a series she really loved.  Alison also likes to
talk about herself in third person.  Apparently.

How did you come to the idea of writing ‘Rules of
Protection’?
I was actually two chapters in on a different storyline
when an epiphany hit me.  Really, it was more like a question.
“If an FBI agent stole a female witness, where would he hide
her?”  And that was easy to answer for me.  I grew up visiting
my uncle’s bird farm located in the Texas backwoods.  So the setting of
the Rules of Protection was definitely inspired by an actual place I’m very
familiar with.
Did you always wanted to become an author?
Nope.  If someone would have told me ten years ago
that I would be writing romance novels for a living, I would have laughed at
them.  I had no clue I would find a passion I hadn’t known existed.
I guess you can say now I finally know what I want to be when I grow up.
LOL
What are your future plans in writing?
I will be finishing out the Tangled in Texas series, but
I have so many other series I want to write.  Some of them are sitting on
my computer half-finished waiting for me to return to them right
now.  One of these in particular, I’m very excited about.  Can’t wait
to share it with my readers.
What is the best thing that happened since you’re book
‘Rules of Protection’ came out?
Hearing someone say they love my book absolutely puts a
smile on my face and makes me jump for joy.  But I’d have to say that the
best thing that has happened to me is getting to know my street team members.
They are the greatest group of people I’ve ever known.  I can’t imagine
not having them in my life.
What do you love most about being an author?
Oh, this is a hard one.  There are so many awesome
things about being an author.  Like working at home in my pajamas,
spending my time doing something I love, meeting others who love books as much
as I do, and especially using my creativity to write romances others will
enjoy.  It’s all very fulfilling.
What is your favorite book? Favorite Author?
Oh, gosh, I have so many.  My absolute all-time
favorite book isn’t actually a romance.  It is a love story, though,
between a boy and his two Redbone Coonhounds.  It’s called “Where The
Red Fern Grows” by Wilson Rawls.  It’s a beautiful, poignant story
that makes me cry every time.  As for my favorite author?  Linda
Howard, hands down.  I own every single one of her books.  No matter
how many times I’ve read them, I still can’t put them down.  But I’m lucky
enough to know a bunch of very talented authors who amaze me with their
ingenuity and their writing skills.  Four of my critique partners are
releasing their debut books in 2015 and I’m so excited that the world will be
getting to read these great stories I love so much.

What is your New Years resolution?
I don’t usually make New Years Resolutions because I find
most people (including me) don’t stick with them.  Instead, I just always
try to be kind and help others, hoping someone will pay it forward.
Where do you go to write your books? And where do you get
the inspiration?
My writing habits changes all the time, depending on
what’s going on in my house.  Sometimes I escape to my sunroom to write
for a few hours with my dogs at feet.  Or sometimes I’ll spend an entire
evening writing in my bedroom or even the living room, as long as the kids
aren’t being too noisy or are already in bed.  But if I get desperate for
absolute silence, I’ve been known to hole up in my garage where I keep a spare
desk and chair for such occasions.  Oh, and on road trips, I even write in
the car.  LOL

Praise for ‘Rules of Protection’:

I was laughing SO
hard that I’d have to take a breather before going back. Then I’d start reading
again and burst out laughing two lines later. Like I said, FUN!!

The dialogue was
great, it’s quick and sharp, I laughed throughout and thought Emily was funny.
The girl has no filter- at all. She says whatever pops into her head and it was
like conversing with a friend.
 – Smart Mouth Smut

I recommend fans of romance with comedy elements and action
to dive into this one head first with no compunction.

Rules of Protection had a bit of everything; action, murder,
fighting, romancing, love, sarcasm, hurt, betrayal and sexy men (can’t forget
them). If you’re a fan of romance you should definitely read this one.
‘Rules of Protection’ is the kind of book you start
reading and just never want to quit.

About Alison Bliss:

As the youngest of five girls, Alison Bliss has never
turned down a challenge…or been called by the right name. Her writing career
may have started out as a dare by one of her sisters, but Alison hasn’t
put her pen down since.
She grew up on a small island off the Texas Gulf
Coast, where most of her childhood vacations consisted of camping or hunting
trips to the deer lease. Although she’ll always be a Texan at
heart, Alison currently resides in the Midwest with her Iowa farm-boy
husband and their two sons. With so much testosterone in her home, it’s no
wonder she writes “girl books.”
She’s an animal lover, a closet video game enthusiast,
and believes the best way to know if someone is your soul mate is by canoeing
with them because if you both make it back alive, it’s obviously meant to
be. Alison’s an avid romance reader who enjoys penning the type of books
she loves to read most: fun, steamy love stories with heart, heat, laughter,
and usually a cowboy or two. As she calls it, “Romance…with a sense
of humor.”
