https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/13455782-shatter-meJuliette hasn’t touched anyone in exactly
264 days.

The last time she did, it was an accident, but The Reestablishment locked her
up for murder. No one knows why Juliette’s touch is fatal. As long as she
doesn’t hurt anyone else, no one really cares. The world is too busy crumbling
to pieces to pay attention to a 17-year-old girl. Diseases are destroying the
population, food is hard to find, birds don’t fly anymore, and the clouds are
the wrong color.

The Reestablishment said their way was the only way to fix things, so they
threw Juliette in a cell. Now so many people are dead that the survivors are
whispering war – and The Reestablishment has changed its mind. Maybe Juliette
is more than a tortured soul stuffed into a poisonous body. Maybe she’s exactly
what they need right now.

Juliette has to make a choice: Be a weapon. Or be a warrior.

I have
read a lot of good things about ‘Shatter Me’ by Tahereh Mafi. So of course that
sparked my interest and I bought the book on Amazon. I read the description
multiple times and ‘Shatter Me’ really sounded like my kind of book. But all
the good reviews I read about this book couldn’t prepare me for how really amazing
this book was. I was completely hooked from the first page on.
In the
first chapters of this book we learn how Juliette’s life is. And I tell you,
her life is terrible. There has never been much happiness in Juliette’s life.
Her life has been without any kind of hope for almost 264 days. But then
Juliette’s life changes forever.
This
story is very different than other ‘dystopian’ books and there is a very
original plot. Nothing in this book happens the way you think it would happen
and I really couldn’t get enough. What I really enjoyed was that this book isn’t
just about an dystopian kind of world but there is also paranormal stuff
happening. Two of my favorite genres put into one. I mean WOW!!
What I really
liked about this book was Tahereh Mafi’s writing style. Her writing is really
natural and normal. You almost believe you’re really ‘living’ the story instead
of reading it. Especially the words and sentences ‘Juliette’ thinks or doesn’t
want to think. Her writing style and the world she created makes is really
interesting.
What
makes this book really good is the fact that it is never boring or without
excitement. This book keeps you sitting on the edge of your seat, shushing everyone
who tries to get you from reading further.
And last
but never ever least, Adam. I loved his character. I really love the way he
tries to keep everybody he loves safe. He is very brave and strong and full of surprises.
But I must say I also didn’t dislike Warner as much as I honestly wanted to. I
definitely think there is more to this character than Tahereh Mafi lets us know
in this book.
The
cover was another great thing about this book. I really liked the colors and
the birds and tries. It really is a cover you just have to reach when you see
it in a store.
There honestly
isn’t anything about this book I didn’t like and thankfully this book is the
first book in a series. I really liked this book and couldn’t get enough. This
book is definitely another ‘favorite’ for me.
