Riven Knight (Tin Gypsy, #2)

After reading the first book in the Tin Gypsy series for our Book Club read of October, I knew I wanted to read more books in this series. I really loved ‘Gypsy King’, so I just couldn’t wait to read the second book. In ‘Riven Knight’ we follow the story of Genevieve and Isaiah. After losing ...KEEP READING »

This Love Hurts

I have read a lot about author Willow Winters lately, but I hadn’t actually read a book by her before. So when ‘This Love Hurts’, the first book in the This Love Hurts series, got picked for Maureen’s Books Book Club January Read I was super excited to start reading. Although I first thought this book was a Contemporary Romance, it’s definitely not.. ‘This Love Hurts’ is a Romantic Suspense novel.

In ‘This Love Hurts’ we meet young lawyer Delilah. Delilah is a workaholic who definitely works all day and every day. She is determined to become the best. But the case that went cold when she just started her career keeps haunting her. It’s on this same case that she met the handsome FBI Agent Cody, and although they’ve always had chemistry.. they both never acted on it. But when they finally do.. someone seems to be keeping an eye out for Delilah.

Well.. ‘This Love Hurts’ was definitely not what I expected it to be. And I still don’t really know what I think about this read to be honest. I thought it would be more of a romance, and it definitely wasn’t. And it was a much shorter read than I thought too. So. .this review is kind of hard to write.

The writing in ‘This Love Hurts’ was definitely good. This book starts right in the middle of things, and throughout the book we get more clues about what is really going on. It confused me a little in the beginning, but it also made this read a lot more interesting and it made me want to keep on reading. But it also left me with still a lot of unanswered questions.

The romance, was very mild and not really all that fulfilling. And then their was the enemy, who also got to play a romantic part in Delilah’s life and I was just shocked. And I’m not sure I liked it. But I also didn’t hate it. And I also really want to know what I going to happen next, since the book ended rather abruptly. LOL!!! So.. you see.. confusing.

‘This Love Hurts’ was definitely interesting.. and it made for a fun Book Club Read. There’s definitely enough to discuss. And in the end.. I really plan on reading the next book in this series too. I just can’t not know what is going one and how things will end.

The Agent (The Consultants, #3)

The Agent (The Consultants, #3)

When I first saw the book description of ‘The Agent’, I knew this was a book I wanted to read. I love Romantic Suspense novels, but I haven’t read that many. So when I received a copy of this book I got super exited and started reading as soon as possible. Although ‘The Agent’ is book three in the The Consultants series, this book can easily be read as a standalone.

In ‘The Agent’ we meet Natalie and Tully. Both come with a lot of baggage, and they both are definitely not looking for a relationship or marriage. But from the moment Natalie and Tully start hanging out more, due to a mutual friend’s wedding, they can’t deny the chemistry between them.  And when Natalie confides in Tully, about the strange emails she is receiving, Tully is determined to keep Natalie safe.

‘The Agent’ was definitely an interesting, fun and suspenseful read. It wasn’t a slow starting story. Right from the first page we are in the middle of the story. And I enjoyed that. The suspense kept me guessing and wondering right until the end. There’s just something about a stalker situation, that I always find so creepy. And in this story it was nothing different. It definitely kept me sitting on the edge of my seat.

The romance between Natalie and Tully was also fun, but it also didn’t really make me swoon. Both Natalie and Tully’s characters are fun to get to know, but there was something about them that made me like them.. but not love them. Not really sure what it was to be honest. The chemistry between them was just not something I could really feel.

Overall, ‘The Agent’ was a fun read.

Wild Child

After reading the book description of ‘Wild Child’, I knew this was a book I wanted to read. I hadn’t read a book by Audrey Carlan before, but I read some good stuff about her on other blogs. And I also just loved that cover.

In ‘Wild Child’ we meet Simone. Simone grew up in Kerrighan House, a loving home filled with foster girls. They all have a different story, but they all ended up together and with an unbreakable bond. They really are chosen sisters. Simone has always been the ‘wild’ one. No matter what happens she wants to make the best of every day and she wants to make her own money. So that’s why she is working three jobs, while doing part time college. But one unfortunate evening, she loses one job and gets pulled over by FBI agent Jonah Fontaine. But although this is a horrible day for her.. Jonah saves her life that day, and soon they both realize Simone might also have saved his life.

This book was definitely very different than what I expected it to be. And not in a bad way. I thought this was ‘just’ a romance. But it also had a few suspense moments that made this read very fascinating. But what I loved the most about this story was the whole foster sister bond between Simone and her sisters. Your imagination definitely gets going while reading about all these different sisters, and I hope I get to read the other books in this series too.

Simone and Jonah, where the two main characters and I loved them. Yes, their romance was rather sudden and I would have enjoyed it going a little slower.. but their chemistry and their story made up for that. They are definitely opposites in many ways, but they really worked well together. I loved how honest and ‘wild’ Simone was. And Jonah’s serious side just was the perfect fit for her.

The suspense in this book kept me sitting on the edge of my seat. There is a murderer on the loose, and Simone and Jonah find themselves right in the middle of the murderer’s path. I just couldn’t put this book down after I started it. And it was definitely teeth-biting suspenseful at times.

‘Wild Child’ was a very fun, romantic and suspense filled read that kept me hooked from start to finish. It definitely made me want to read more about the Kerrighan sisters and their sisterhood.

Gypsy King (Tin Gypsy, #1)

For the month of October ‘ Gypsy King’ was voted to be Maureen’s Books Book Club new Book Club read. And I was super excited about that. I read about the Tin Gypsy series before, and I knew this was a series of standalone novels. And they sounded so good. When I signed up for book 4 for a Blog Tour, I knew I wanted to read this complete series. So this Book Club read was definitely exciting for me.

In ‘Gypsy King’ we meet Bryce Ryan. Bryce has recently moved to Clifton Forge, Montana to work with her father as part owner of a small town newspaper. After hitting her thirties and no prospects of long term relationships, all Bryce wants is to find a new story. And she things she found one. A year ago, the notorious motorcycle club Tin Gypsy, closed its clubhouse and is supposedly all good now and working as a garage. Bryce doesn’t believe it for one moment. And she is determined to find out more. The only problem is the ‘ leader’ of the Tin Gypsy’s Kingston ‘Dash’ Slater. Dash is extremely handsome, and he knows it. But he also smart and isn’t going to let Bryce destroy what he worked for the last year. But when suddenly a dead woman is found, and things start to look bad for the Tin Gypsy’s, Bryce and Dash might have to start working together.

When I started ‘Gypsy King’ I didn’t really know what to expect. Sure I thought I’d like this story.. but what I didn’t expect was this book being so damn good it kept me up way past midnight just so I could finish it in one day. Yes! This book was really that good.

The two main characters Bryce and Dash are really fun to get to know. And they are definitely an interesting match. Bryce is kind, hardworking, tough and isn’t planning on letting anyone take her away from her next story. Even not a handsome motor guy with gorgeous eyes. Dash has worked hard to get his garage back into the legal side of things. He has many dark secrets, just like the rest of his family and coworkers, and he isn’t planning on letting a pretty face take everything he worked so hard for away.

The chemistry between Bryce and Dash is right from the start flying of the pages. It definitely couldn’t be denied. And I loved how they interacted with each other. And loved how Bryce kept putting Dash back in his place. It was not only fun to read, but the author also had a way of making me feel like I was sitting right beside them. And their where also some pretty sexy moments between them.

But the best part of this book was definitely the combination of the romance and the suspense. On the one hand the romance kept me hooked, but there was also a lot of suspenseful moments and I just wanted to know what was going to happen next.

This book was definitely worth my sleepless night. The writing was nice and easy to follow, the characters where memorable and interesting and the romance and suspense kept me sitting on the edge of my seat. ‘Gypsy King’ was a great book to read as a Book Club read. There was plenty to discuss and I enjoyed talking about this book so much.

And one thing is for sure.. I can’t wait to read the next book in this series!
