Beautifully Broken Spirit (Sutter Lake, #3)

When I read the book description of ‘Beautifully Broken Spirit’, I just knew this was a book I needed to read. And when I found out this book was part of a series, but could be read as a standalone, I was hooked. So when I received this book, I felt super lucky and started reading as soon as possible.

In ‘Beautifully Broken Spirit’ we meet single mom Jensen. After two horrible relationships, she is determined to make it on her own and do the best for her son. Jensen works hard in her own little shop, takes care of her horses, and tries to be the best mom. Tuck is Jensen’s brothers best friend and he has always been a part of Jensen’s life. Tuck is just like another brother.. except he is definitely not. When things in Jensen’s life starts getting dangerous, Tuck is determined to keep Jensen safe. As her friend obviously.

In the beginning I needed a little time to really connect with the two main characters Jensen and Tuck. Not in a bad way. I just felt like there was this whole life I didn’t knew. But I kept going and soon I started to love Jensen and Tuck.

Jensen is this hard working mom who hardly ever gives herself time to take a breath. She works like crazy, takes care of these beautiful Mustangs who needed a safe place and is a single mom. And as a mom myself, I think she kind of is amazing!! The chemistry between Jensen and Tuck was immediately super fun to read about. Even if though they didn’t really recognize that chemistry themselves.

Tuck was just perfect. He was handsome, strong, kind and he took care of Jensen and her son even if she didn’t want it all the time. Tuck had his own demons, but Jensen always came first. I just loved him. And I was rooting for him from the very start.

Next to some awesome romance, there was some pretty exciting suspense going on in this book. And it kept me guessing and sitting on the edge of my seat. I loved it!

‘Beautifully Broken Spirit’ is a great read and I definitely need to read the other books in this series too. Catherine Cowles definitely has a new fan.

Under Currents

Under Currents

I’m a big fan of Nora Roberts and her books. She has a way of writing that almost always make me like her books. So when I received an email with the question if I wanted to read her next new standalone novel ‘Under Currents’ I immediately said yes.

In ‘Under Currents’ we meet Zane and Darby. Both have had a hard, and violent past. And now they both live in North Carolina’s Blue Ridge Mountains. Trying to forget the past, they aren’t looking for love. But somehow they found each other. Although their time together is beautiful and fun, there is violence following them around. And soon they have to fight for their lives.

This book is written in different parts. Starting when the main character Zane is in his teens, and ending in the part where he is a grown up working as a lawyer at his own practice. In the beginning this confused me a little. Time went by so fast in this book, that it made me wonder what the deal was and how this book was going to end. But instead of this being something that made me dislike this book, it made me want to keep on reading because I just wanted to know what was going to happen.

‘Under Currents’ is a hard book to put a genre on. It was thrilling, it was sad, there was romance. This book definitely made me want to keep on reading. There was just something about this book that made me want to read every single page. And the first part of this book was definitely hard to read. It put tears in my eyes, and I felt so many things. And that’s definitely a part of Nora Roberts charm and talent. She makes us readers feel all kinds of emotions.

Although this book sometimes felt like time went by a little too fast. I loved it! I loved the characters, and I loved the setting. There where many thrilling moments, and the romance was just beautiful. Yes, definitely another great read by Nora Roberts that kept me sitting on the edge of my seat.

Troublemaker (GO-Team, #1)

Last November I read my first Linda Howard book, the second novel in the GO-Team series called ‘The Woman Left Behind’. I absolutely loved that book. So when I saw a great deal on Amazon for ‘Troublemaker’ the first book in the series. I just had to get it and started reading as fast as I could. ‘Troublemaker’ can be read as a standalone.

In ‘Troublemaker’ we meet Morgan Yancy. Morgan is a team leader of a GO team and has just arrived home after being away on a job for months. Shortly after arriving home he gets ambushed and almost dies when some stranger tries to kill him. To get his strength back and lay low for a little while, Morgan stays with the stepsister of one of his colleagues Bo Maran. Bo doesn’t really trust people easily. And Morgan is stubborn as hell, and seems to be having a lot of secrets. Bad news if you ask Bo. But soon Morgan and Bo get to know each other better. Unfortunately that’s when Morgan’s life starts catching up with him.

I had some high hopes for ‘Troublemaker’, and I must say I really enjoyed reading this book. This book starts really exciting and before I knew what was going on I was totally pulled into the world of Bo and Morgan and I couldn’t stop reading. Both main characters Bo and Morgan are really fun to get to know. Especially because they aren’t like your average main characters. For one they both aren’t very good in being social, and secondly they both have some baggage.

The romance between Morgan and Bo starts with a simmer, and ends all hot and heavy. And I loved that about this read. You really get excited reading about these two and I couldn’t get enough of them.

The suspense in this book wasn’t as exciting as I would have liked, but I definitely enjoyed it. It just started pretty good, and near the end I found the suspense ending a little to abrupt. It felt rushed and I really wanted to know what was going on.

Overall ‘Troublemaker’ was a fun read I’d definitely enjoyed.

Beyond Risk (Florida Wildlife Warriors #1)

Beyond Risk (Florida Wildlife Warriors #1)

Let me start with saying I just love that cover. Isn’t it just beautiful? It was definitely what grabbed my attention in the beginning. And yes I know you should never judge a book by its cover, but this is just so pretty. When I saw this book on Netgalley I knew I wanted to read it. So I was super excited when I got approved.
