After reading a lot of Contemporary Romance lately, I loved the idea of reading a Romantic Comedy. So when I read the book description of ‘Lizzy Goes Brains Over Braun’ I thought this was a book I definitely needed to check out. So when I got approved to read an ARC, I got super excited and started reading as soon as possible.

It was just supposed to be just a 40th birthday prank for our boss after a wild night of girlfriends, laughter, and a LOT of margaritas. When we placed the ad in the newspaper, we never thought anyone would actually answer it. We also didn’t think that Laurel would be so brainless as to put Lizzy’s actual phone number in the ad… Beautiful, successful single woman, 40, seeks attractive male billionaire to impregnate her the old fashioned way. No strings. NOT seeking sugar daddy. Validation required. Serious inquiries only, please. What could possibly go wrong?  Everything.

In ‘Lizzy Goes Brains Over Braun’ we meet successful business woman Lizzy. Lizzy is celebrating her fortieth birthday with her best friends, and colleagues at a bar. There is a lot of alcohol going around, and Lizzy and her friends have the best night. But becoming forty also makes you think about your life and the things you achieved. And Lizzy realizes she really would like to become a mom, but without the complication of being in a relationship. What Lizzy didn’t think would happen was that one of her friends actually would post an ad in a newspaper: ‘Beautiful, successful single woman, 40, seeks attractive male billionaire to impregnate her the old fashioned way. No strings. NOT seeking sugar daddy. Validation required. Serious inquiries only, please.’ But when a guy named Braun replies to the ad, she finds herself curious about him.

Well, this book was definitely not what I expected. Although I don’t really know what I expected to be honest. This book is definitely ‘fun’, in the way Lizzy interacts with her friends. Their banters and bar adventures are definitely funny and it makes you want to have friends like that too. But there is also a lot of sex in this book. A lot of talk about sex, and a lot of actual sex. And I didn’t expect that, and in the first half of the book I honestly thought there was way to much sex for my liking. I missed the romance, and the ‘storyline’ to be honest.

But, when I got half way through the book.. the story developed and Lizzy became a much more likeable character for me, and their was more romance. And I really started to enjoy this story more and more. Their also wasn’t as much detailed sex as in the beginning, which I liked way more.

And well.. Braun’s character made up for a lot if you ask me. I loved him. Braun was this rich, geeky guy who definitely was way to kind. And, hold your breath, he speaks LOTR elvish (among many other languages!). Yes.. my geek heart was definitely in love with this guy.

Although the whole idea of a an ad to which billionaires respond to, sounds a little crazy to me, it made for a funny story. In the end I read this book in two evenings, so I definitely can say I enjoyed it. And it made me curious about Lizzy’s friends for sure. And.. I love this cover!!
