Londyn McCormack didn’t have a typical childhood. She ran away from home at sixteen, escaping parents more interested in drugs than their daughter. She doesn’t have loving siblings or an adorable pet. Her only family is the five other runaway kids who shared her junkyard home. Life pulled them all in separate directions, taking her to Boston. For a short time, she thought she’d found something permanent. But after a devastating divorce, she’s running away again, this time to find a lost friend. She’s driving across the country in her convertible. As a teenager, the rusty car was her shelter. As an adult, it’s her ride to freedom. Except one flat tire derails her trip. Her life collides with Brooks Cohen. They walked away from the first crash. The second might destroy them both.

After reading one of Devney Perry’s books for my Book Club read a few months back, I knew I wanted to read more books by this author. So when I saw a good deal on ‘Runaway Road’, book one in the Runaway series I couldn’t resist and bought it. And I started reading the same night.

In ‘Runaway Road’ we meet Londyn. Londyn is recently divorced and decides to escape the city of Boston for a new life. Running away is something she has done all her life. Running from home at sixteen, Londyn is used to starting over. But when she accidentally gets into car trouble near the small town of Summers, Londyn is forced to stay for a while. In Summers Londyn meets the handsome mechanic Brooks. And soon they start hanging out every day, and Londyn finds herself not wanting to leave for once.

After reading the book description of ‘Runaway Road’ I was immediately interested in reading this book. Londyn’s character was one that I was really curious about and I definitely loved her. Londyn has had a hard life, and worked hard to get where she is. All she wants is to start over and find herself again. And from the moment she meets Brooks, there’s this instant chemistry between them.

Brooks character was definitely charming. He is one of the good ones. Handsome, hardworking, kind and respectful to woman. I loved him and I was rooting for him and Brooks from the start.

The one thing that didn’t really work for me was those ‘accidents’ to Londyn’s car. I just didn’t really get that part and I definitely didn’t understand how Londyn could accept that it so easily. I mean, I would freak out if someone is violating my car multiple times! And then the person who was responsible for those ‘accidents’? No, that part of the book just didn’t work for me.

The romance and chemistry between Londyn and Brooks was fun to read. And I loved them together. I also loved the small town part.

Overall, ‘Runaway Road’ was a fun romantic read I definitely enjoyed. And I’m curious about the next book in this series.
