I’m Cat McKay, and I’m in desperate need of a man. My farm manager deserted me six weeks before our grand opening that will help put my family’s business on the map. Now I need to find a replacement, because I’m not about to be the reason we fail. Unfortunately, Caden Landry— whose arrogance, evasions and good looks rub me the wrong way—is my only option on a list of zero candidates. So, as much as it pains me to admit it, I need him to step in and save the day. Yeah, I hate it too. I’m Caden Landry, and I have a self-destructive streak a mile wide. One thing is clear, I need to stay the hell away from my new boss, Cat McKay. Not an easy task, considering she’s the kind of woman I find irresistible. But I’m tired of running, tired of living paycheck to paycheck with nothing but a flatbed to my name. I’m determined this time I’m going to get my life together. So, I’m not about to screw a golden opportunity because I can’t keep my hands off the woman in charge. This time, self-preservation will prevail.

In December of last year I read the first book in the Bastard series ‘Cold Hearted Bastard’. I loved that book so much! So when I got the opportunity to read this next book, I got really excited and couldn’t wait to start reading.

From the moment I started reading ‘Arrogant Bastard’, I was hooked. Just as with the first book, I just loved the main characters and the setting. After meeting the older brother in the first book, we now get to read the story of Cat McKay. The youngest McKay sibling who is used to people disappointing her. When she meets the handsome Caden, she isn’t impressed by his looks but instantly dislikes him. Not because he is so unkind.. but simple because he is just so arrogant and pushes all her buttons. And.. because the chemistry between them simple can’t be denied.

I loved Cat when I first read about her in ‘Cold Hearted Bastard’, and I loved her even more in this book. Her character was one I could easily relate too. She just felt so real. She has learned the hard way, that people can leave without any notice.. and that’s why she shields herself from feeling to much. And who doesn’t get that? I sure do. I understood her reluctance to let Caden in. But I also kept hoping she would allow herself some happiness.

Caden character I didn’t like in the beginning at all. He is the kind of guy I would walk a mile around to be honest. He is so damn arrogant, and although I could easily feel their chemistry flying of the pages.. It took me while to really like Caden. But slowly on we get to see another side of Caden. And I must say I loved that side of him.

The romance between Cat and Caden was definitely very nice to read about. Their chemistry is intense and I loved how they both tried to deny their feelings. Their little banters where super fun to read and I simple enjoyed getting to know them better.

And above all I loved how we get to read a little bit about Jackson and Gwen, the McKay brother we read about in the first book. And I also got really curious about the last McKay brother Wyatt.

‘Arrogant Bastard’ was a very nice, sexy, romantic read I just read in a day. Simple because it was too good to stop.

I follow Cat McKay out of her office and down a narrow corridor that will lead us outside.

Maybe my tactics are unorthodox, but they got the job done.

As she walks in front of me, my gaze slides over her light, golden brown hair, pulled off her neck in a messy ponytail, along the line of her neck, down the curve of her back and dip of her waist in a white tank top, to her perfect ass in tight, faded jeans.

She’s tiny. Tiny enough to put in all sorts of interesting positions. And her body is fan-fucking-tastic. But that’s not my real worry. Good bodies are a dime a dozen.

It’s her face that’s the real trouble.

Unusual steely gray eyes, high cheekbones, a lush mouth, set off perfectly by her peaches and cream skin. Individually, taken apart piece by piece, Cat McKay should be wholesome and pure looking, but put together, well that’s a different story.

She’s not exactly sexy… she’s more, I don’t know the word… but it’s something.

She has a vulnerability about her that makes me want to violate her.

Not that I will, because I’ve made the mistake of mixing business and pleasure a few times before and I’ve finally learned the lesson.

But if I’d met her in a bar, I’d take her home and do filthy things to her.
That skin is just made to be flushed.

All things I’m just going to have to ignore.

Jennifer Dawson grew up in the suburbs of Chicago and graduated from DePaul University with a degree in psychology. She met her husband at the public library while they were studying. To this day she still maintains she was NOT checking him out. Now, over twenty years later they’re married living in a suburb right outside of Chicago with two awesome kids and a crazy dog. Despite going through a light FM, poem writing phase in high school, Jennifer never grew up wanting to be a writer (she had more practical aspirations of being an international super spy). Then one day, suffering from boredom and disgruntled with a book she’d been reading, she decided to put pen to paper. The rest, as they say, is history. These days Jennifer can be found sitting behind her computer writing her next novel, chasing after her kids, keeping an ever watchful eye on her ever growing to-do list, and NOT checking out her husband.
