Whitney Carroll is back home in Gatlinburg, Tennessee after divorcing her low-down, cheating husband. First thing on the to-do list: Get a job. Second thing: Just say no to men. Third thing: Don’t fall for the boss. One out of three’s not too bad, right? For Sam Ellis, his to-do list is always work, work, work, trying to keep his family’s legacy alive. Now, out of concern, his siblings bet he can’t keep a girl happy for thirty days, and if he loses he’s out as CEO. No problem, he can fake a relationship. And he knows just who to ask...his new man-vegan assistant. Yet Whitney’s sexy boss—secret singer and Skee-Ball champion—is definitely NOT boring, and their connection is undeniable. But when a disaster strikes at work, Sam will have to decide if he’s willing to trade in his job for his heart.

When I came across the cover of ‘Betting On Love’ by Jennifer Hoopes, I knew this was a book I wanted to read. It’s just such a fun and cheerful cover. And I could definitely use a cheerful read. ‘Betting On Love’ is the second book in the Ellis Family Saga series but can be read as a standalone. So when it was a sunny day outside, I dived right in and started reading.

In ‘Betting On Love’ we meet Whitney and Sam. Whitney has just divorced her cheating husband. After thinking her life was going good, everything changed and she found herself without a husband, house and job. The only thing Whitney could do was going back home and be with family. Now Whitney is determined to get her life back together. And when she meets Sam, things start to look up. A new job, and a handsome guy to hang around with. It’s a win win. And when Sam asks Whitney to help him win a bet, she figures why not.

‘Betting On Love’ was definitely a short story. I probably should have known that before I started reading, but I didn’t. And before I knew it, I was halfway through the book. ‘Betting On Love’ is definitely a fun read, but things move very fast.

I loved the two main characters Whitney and Sam. They where fun and seemed perfect for each other. There chemistry was definitely something I could feel, and I was rooting for them. But things went way to fast for me to really connect with them. I wished there was a little more character development. Now Whitney and Sam both had trouble trusting people, but they dived right into their little bet from the start.

The small town setting was great, but I wished we got to know the town a little more.

‘Betting On Love’ was definitely a fun and charming read.
