In the heart of the Rockies

In the arms of a cowboy
One white Christmas can change everything.

When firefighter and single dad Steve Springfield moved his four kids to a
Colorado Christmas tree ranch, he intended for it to be a safe haven. But he
never expected danger to follow them to his childhood home…

Or that he would come face-to-face with the one girl he could never forget.

Folk artist Camille Brandt lives a quiet life. As the town’s resident
eccentric, she’s used to being lonely–until Steve freaking Springfield changes
everything. Brave and kind, he’s always had a piece of her heart, and it
doesn’t take long before she’s in danger of falling for him and his
rambunctious kids. But as mysterious fires break out across the sleepy Colorado
town, Steve and Camille will have to fight if they want their happy family to
survive until Christmas…

My Review:

When I was
looking for books I wanted to read during the HoHoHo Readathon, I came across
‘Rocky Mountain Cowboy Christmas’ and just knew I had to read it. So I bought
myself a copy and was super excited when I was finally able to start reading.
In ‘Rocky
Mountain Cowboy Christmas’ we meet Steve Springfield. Steve has just moved back
to his hometown with his four kids. After his wife died years ago, he wanted to
give his kids a safe haven and found himself back at his families ranch. What
he didn’t expect was seeing Camille Brandt again. Camille is the town’s artist/
hermit. Camille lives a quiet life and tries to interact with as little people
as possible. When she comes face to face with Steve Springfield after haven’t
seen him for years she is frustrated to find herself in awe of him as much as
when she was a teen. But soon she just can’t stay away from him and his
adorable kids. But there is danger lurking..
I love a
good Cowboy story, and I love Christmas. So a Cowboy Christmas story is always
a good thing for me. And thankfully ‘Rocky Mountain Cowboy Christmas’ is
definitely a nice read if you ask me. From the very beginning I loved the two
main characters Steve and Camille. Camille is this awkward artist who doesn’t
really know how to interact with people. Which made her interactions with
others a lot of fun to read about. Especially when she talked with Steve. She
became all nervous and started rattling which is something I can definitely do
too.
Steve was
this handsome but most of all kind guy and an incredible dad. I loved reading
how he was with his children. But what I loved most of all about this read was
the romance between Steve and Camille. It wasn’t perfect, it took some time and
they were both kind of shy which made it take them extra long to get to that
first kiss.. And I loved that about this book.
And those
four kids of Steve? They were really fun to read about. They all had this
special thing about them. And they seemed way to smart for their age.. but I
just loved them. And reading about them made me laugh a lot.
Although
this story took place around Christmas time, it wasn’t all about Christmas
which fitted the book and I enjoyed. It wasn’t this too perfect Christmas read,
but just Christmassy enough.
The ending
of this book wasn’t really what I expected and hoped for to be honest. I even
found it a little too ‘rushed’. Like this book only was allowed to be another
50 pages long and no more. And I didn’t get the whole part about the fires.
Especially when I found out who did it. But since the beginning and the romance
of this book where so good, I still think this was a great read.

About the Author:

A fan of
the old adage “write what you know”, Katie Ruggle lived in an off-grid, solar-
and wind-powered house in the Rocky Mountains until her family lured her back
to Minnesota. When she’s not writing, Katie rides horses, trains her three
dogs, cross-country skis (badly) and travels to warm places where she can scuba
dive. A graduate of the Police Academy, Katie received her ice-rescue
certification and can attest that the reservoirs in the Colorado mountains
really are that cold. A fan of anything that makes her feel like a bad-ass, she
has trained in Krav Maga, boxing and gymnastics.
