As a nursethere are many things I like about my job, but there are definitely also some
things I don’t like at all. That’s probably true with every job. My job as a
nurse is intense, hard, sometimes very frustrating but also beautiful and
gratifying. I don’t always remember why I wanted to become a nurse. Especially
when I work a lot, don’t see my husband as much, have to work on Christmas and
get to see how aggressive and unkind people can get. But thankfully there are
moments that make me happy I am a nurse.
My favorite
thing about being a nurse is the way I can make someone’s worst day a little
better. Not always by doing something, but sometimes just by being there and
holding someone’s hand. Those are the moments as a nurse I will remember. I won’t
remember all the names, all the tears and all the horrible wounds or fractures
I see on a daily basis.. but I will remember the look in my patients eyes when
I see that I made there day a little better. Even if it’s just for a second.
And those moments make it all worthwhile.

Nursing has to be one of the hardest jobs, but a good nurse can make a huge difference to patients.
My job is boring.
Nursing can definitely be hard. And there are times I wonder why I wanted to become a nurse. But there are many great moments too. Sorry to hear your job is boring Carol.

Nursing is a hard job! During my semi-brief former engagement, I remember the stories his mom would tell. She is a very knowledgeable nurse, and honestly should have been a doctor, but in the era she grew up in, that is not what women did. She no longer worked with patients, but was on the teaching and educational side of nursing, preparing the new nurses for their practicums and such. Like teaching, it is a hard but rewarding job.
That sounds like something I would love to do when I'm a little older. Teaching others about being a Nurse. 🙂
