Moments.

Our lives are a collection of moments. Some utterly painful and full of
yesterday’s hurts. Some beautifully hopeful and full of tomorrow’s promises.

I’ve had many moments in my lifetime, moments that changed me, challenged me.
Moments that scared me and engulfed me. However, the biggest ones—the most
heartbreaking and breathtaking ones—all included him.

I was ten years old when I lost my voice. A piece of me was stolen away, and
the only person who could truly hear my silence was Brooks Griffin. He was the
light during my dark days, the promise of tomorrow, until tragedy found him.
Tragedy that eventually drowned him in a sea of memories.

This is the story of a boy and girl who loved each other, but didn’t love
themselves. A story of life and death. Of love and broken promises.

Of moments.

My Review:

I came
across the audiobook of ‘The Silent Waters’ when I was browsing through
audible.com. The first thing that grabbed my attention was the beautiful
looking cover. It immediately made me think of ‘The Notebook’, and when I read
the book description I decided this would be my perfect next audiobook.
‘The
Silent Waters’ is the third book in the Elements series, but is a complete standalone.
In ‘The
Silent Waters’ we meet young Maggie. Maggie is ten years old when something
terrible happens to her. This event led to her losing her voice and changing
her life, and that of her family forever.
Brooks
Griffin has been Maggie’s friend forever. He stayed with her through everything
and he promised her forever. But life has something instore for all of us, and
soon Brooks is the one who needs saving.
When I
started ‘The Silent Waters’ the two narrators took some getting used too. I
never listened to a book with two different narrators before, and their
different voices took me a little while to get used to. Especially since this
book starts when the two main characters are just kids, and in the end they are
grownups. Their voices changed too, and I definitely needed to get used to it.
But in the end I think both narrators did a great job. Their voices fitted the
characters perfectly, and I enjoyed listening to them.
The story
itself also took some getting used to. I didn’t really get where this story was
going, but after a little while this story became better and better. And I
loved listening to the story of Maggie and her Brooks. It was a beautiful story
unlike anything I’ve read before. I loved how different and original this book
was.

‘The
world keeps spinning because your heartbeats exists.’

The two
main characters where really nice to read about. Maggie has been through
something terrible, and because of that she lost her voice and isn’t able to
leave her house. But even though she has no voice of her own, she has her own
opinions and thoughts. And I loved listening to her. I didn’t get the whole no
talking bit, but I loved her character. She reads a lot and really experiences
books the way I wished I could experience every book. Like she really was a
part of it.. I loved her.
Brooks was
this amazing boy and grew into an even better guy. I loved listening to his
side of the story. And I really enjoyed listening to how much he cared for
Maggie. He was really the only one who seemed to get her, and I just loved him.
Especially his grownup self. He was really swoon worthy.
The only
down part of this book was that I didn’t really get Maggie’s not being able to
talk bit. What she went through was terrible, but I have never heard about
someone losing their ability to talk. But the amazing characters and the
chemistry they really made up for that part. And let’s not even start with the
beautiful writing.. Wow.. I loved the writing.

I’ll
be your anchor
I’ll
hold you still throughout the night
I’ll
be your steadiness
during
the dark and lonely tides
I’ll
hold you close, I’ll be your light, I’ll promise you’ll be all right
I’ll
be your anchor
And
we’ll get through this fight
