Sometimes you find love in the most unexpected of
places…

This is not one of those times.
Everyone expects Billie Bridgerton to marry one of the
Rokesby brothers. The two families have been neighbors for centuries, and as a
child the tomboyish Billie ran wild with Edward and Andrew. Either one would
make a perfect husband… someday.
Sometimes you fall in love with exactly the person you
think you should…
Or not.
There is only one Rokesby Billie absolutely cannot
tolerate, and that is George. He may be the eldest and heir to the earldom, but
he’s arrogant, annoying, and she’s absolutely certain he detests her. Which is
perfectly convenient, as she can’t stand the sight of him, either.
But sometimes fate has a wicked sense of humor…
Because when Billie and George are quite literally thrown
together, a whole new sort of sparks begins to fly. And when these lifelong
adversaries finally kiss, they just might discover that the one person they
can’t abide is the one person they can’t live without…

My Review:

I really love Historical Romance novels. I love being
swapped away by the romance, the etiquette and the beautiful gowns of that
time. So when I received ‘Because of Miss Bridgerton’ by Julia Quinn, I was
super excited. This is the second book by Julia Quinn I read. And after loving
the previous book I read called ‘The Secrets of Sir Richard Kenworthy’, I
couldn’t wait to start reading this one.
And this book didn’t disappoint. From the moment I
started reading I completely fell in love with the characters. The main
characters are Billie and George. Billie is not like any other young female of
her time. Billie doesn’t like to sit inside, she loves working the fields,
riding her horse and just having fun. Billie doesn’t usually do what is
expected of her and that’s definitely a part of her charm.
George is the eldest heir to the earldom and probably the
only Rokesby brother that isn’t all that fond of Billy. George is handsome and
is used to doing what is expected of him.
I just loved these two characters together. They were so
different and they did a lot of bickering. I just loved reading their story and
I couldn’t stop until I finished the book.
Julie Quinn definitely has a way of making you fall in
love with the characters. At first we got to know that characters individually,
which made me love them, and then we got to know the characters together, and I
loved them even more. It was just so much fun reading the journey of two people
who knew each other all their lives, and where now falling in love. Sigh.. This
definitely was a perfect romantic read.
Not only has Julia Quinn a way of writing a beautiful
romantic story, there was also a lot of humor in this book. I especially loved
the conversations between Billie and George. They were just so funny and really
made me laugh out loud many times. But the absolute best part about this book
was that these characters became even better when they got closer to each
other. Sigh.. Yep.. This was a great historical romance novel.

My Rating:

About the Author:

Julia Quinn started writing her first book one month
after finishing college and has been tapping away at her keyboard ever since.
She is a graduate of Harvard and Radcliffe colleges and lives with her family
in Colorado.

Julia Quinn loves to dispel the myth that smart women
don’t read (or write) romance, and in 2001 she did so in grand style, competing
on the game show The Weakest Link and walking away with the $79,000 jackpot.
She displayed a decided lack of knowledge about baseball, country music, and
plush toys, but she is proud to say that she aced all things British and
literary, answered all of her history and geography questions correctly, and
knew that there was a Da Vinci long before there was a code.

In 2010, Ms Quinn won her third RITA Award in four years and was the thirteenth
author to be inducted into the Romance Writers of America Hall of Fame. Her
books have been translated into twenty-eight languages, and she has been
profiled in USA Today and TIME Magazine. Her twenty-third novel, The Sum of All
Kisses, was released in late 2013.
