After reading the first book in the Forgotten Brotherhood series ‘Fury Unleashed’ I knew this was a book I also wanted to read. From Blood and Ash (Blood And Ash, #1)

I’ve read several books by Jennifer L. Armentrout over the years. And I loved all of them. But it had been a while since I last read one of her books. So when I read the book description of ‘From Blood and Ash’ I knew this was book I really needed to read. So I ordered the paperback on Amazon, because I really wanted to hold that pretty cover in my hands, and waited impatiently. And finally this beautiful book arrived, and I started reading immediately.

In ‘From Blood and Ash’ we meet Poppy. Poppy is the ‘chosen’ one and lives her life being guarded by soldiers and never being able to go places. She is forced to hide her face, she can’t talk to people outside her guards and maid and she isn’t allowed to talk about her ‘gift’. But this is a hard life for everyone, and especially for Poppy. So when Poppy meets Hawke she is immediately smitten by his handsome looks. And Hawke doesn’t treat her like she’s the chosen one. But the world they know is changing, and it’s hard to know who to trust.

Well.. where to start?! I’d loved Jennifer L. Armentrout’s writing before, but now I absolutely adore it. I mean.. WOW!!! This book completely blew my mind and I couldn’t stop reading. There are 636 pages in this book, and I read it in only two days. And it is two days because I have a little girl to take care of, so I kind read all day.. otherwise I would have easily read this book in one sitting. It was just so good!

The world building in ‘From Blood and Ash’ is awesome. It’s a complete new world, with new ‘creatures’ and new rules. And from the moment I started reading I felt like I was a part of it. And I could easily follow the rules and … of this new world.

And then there are the main characters.. Poppy and Hawke. I loved them so much I can’t stop thinking about these two. First of all Poppy character.. She was such a strong and interesting character forced to this life she really didn’t want. And I was rooting for her from the start. I loved how good and curious she was about life, even though life was so hard for her. And then Hawke.. I don’t think I loved a character as much as I love him. I mean.. we’re talking major crush butterflies love! He was just so mysterious, and fun and he totally stood up for Poppy when no one did.

Besides the romance, this book keeps you sitting on the edge of your seat. There’s a lot of suspense and a lot of moments that made me say ‘Nooooo..’. There are also a lot of things unsolved, a lot of things that keep you wondering, and lots of things that makes you want to visit Mrs. Armentrout and beg her to finish the next book in the series. I can’t wait to read that one!

‘From Blood and Ash’ is definitely a book I recommend! It’s the perfect combination of paranormal romance and suspense and it’s definitely one of my all time favorite reads!

Fury Unleashed (Forgotten Brotherhood #1)

A little while ago I was browsing through Netgalley and came across this gorgeous cover of ‘Fury Unleashed’. Although I have never read a book by N.J. Walters before, and haven’t read a lot of paranormal romance lately, I loved the look and sound of this book and was beyond excited when I received the mail saying I was getting send an Arc.

‘Fury Unleashed’ is the first book in the Forgotten Brotherhood series. This book is told from both Maccus Fury, and Morrigan Quill’s point of view. Maccus is a Fallen Angel who has lived for thousands of years. He works as an assassin and rarely feels anything. Maccus has only a little thread of humanity left and he doesn’t even care. But when Morrigan, a bounty hunter, walks by him he feels things he hasn’t felt before. And soon they find out that both Heaven and Hell are involved with setting them up to meet.

Requesting this book was a bit of a gamble. I rarely read fantasy or paranormal novels lately. But this book just seemed to speak to me. I really wanted to read it and I’m so happy I did because I really loved this book from the moment I started till the very end.

‘Fury Unleashed’ is the perfect combination of romance, action and paranormal. I loved it! The two main characters Maccus and Morrigan shouldn’t work at all, but they do. Their chemistry is flying of the pages, and there is definitely a lot of Hotness going on.  I mean if you don’t like sex in your book, than this one is not for you. But I loved the way there was all this hot stuff, but above all their was romance and lots of action. This book definitely kept me sitting on the edge of my seat.

The action was intense. I mean we are talking about fighting between Heaven and Hell and demons and.. Well, you’ll have to read it!

But what I loved most about this read was the way there just was a whole new world. There are bounty hunters, demons, angels and there is heaven and hell.. but everything is new and original. Nothing is the way you think it is. N.J. Walters created this unique new world and I very much enjoyed it.

Since this book is the first one in a series, I definitely can’t wait to read the next book. And I might have to check out more books by this author.

Kiss of Vengeance

S. Young (a.k.a. Samantha Young) is one of my favorite authors. I simple love all her books from all the genres she’s written in. And after reading ‘War of Hearts’, her first paranormal romance novel, I knew this genre was another one by her I just loved. So I was super excited to start reading ‘Kiss of Vengeance’, and if I hadn’t got the flu last week, I would have easily devoured this book in one sitting.

‘Kiss of Vengeance’ was the perfect blend of paranormal, romance and suspense. From the very first page I was hooked to this book. The thing I like the most about this read is the way the two main characters Rose and Fionn, although they have paranormal abilities, the seem so normally human. I can easily imagine them being real people in the real world. Which made it easy for me to imagine their story to be real. And I just love that about S. Young, because she is able to do this every time. She really is able to create ‘real’ characters.

Although I had to get used to this paranormal world again in the beginning, I didn’t mind not ‘getting’ everything at the start. I always had a fascination with the Faerie world, so I enjoyed getting to know the world of Fae again.

The chemistry between Rose and Fionn is there from the beginning. And it was really amazing to read. Although there is chemistry, they don’t give in to it for a long time and it made for a perfectly long teasing and brewing romance. I loved it! There are some pretty hot and toe curling moments, and their romance simple made for a perfect story.

Fionn was definitely my favorite character. There’s just so much more than meets the eye with him. I loved how strong, how determined and also how caring he was. And obviously his love of books is a big turn on! I mean really? He just had to be more perfect? LOL!

Rose was also a fun character to get to know. She had been searching for something her whole life. This meant she travelled a lot, and she was just so brave about it. I wish I was as brave as she.

Beside the romance, there was enough going on in this book to keep you hooked and sitting on the edge of my seat. There were several moments I really had to force myself to slow down and read every word. I just really wanted to know what was going to happen and almost found myself skipping words just to go faster. If that isn’t a sign I loved this book I don’t know what is.

‘Kiss of Vengeance’ is definitely one of my favorite reads. I loved it! And I can’t wait to read more books in this series. Especially now I had a clue about who the next story is going to be. Sigh..

Manhattan Dragon (The Treasure of Paragon, #3)

When I read the book description of ‘Manhattan Dragon’ I was immediately fascinated by this read. I love romance novels, and although I haven’t read many paranormal romance novels lately, I got super excited about this one. So when I received an ARC I couldn’t wait to start reading.

In ‘Manhattan Dragon’ we meet Rowan Valor, an immortal dragon who has been living in Manhattan for three hundred years. Every once in a while, Rowan has to fake her own death to be able to stay and life in the city. Rowan has been able to live her life like this for years, but when she meets human detective Nick Grandstaff, everything changes. Rowan feels things she hasn’t felt before, and she can’t seem to stay away from the handsome Nick.

When I started reading, I found myself a little worried about the fact this book was the third one in the – The Treasure of Paragon series. Would I be able to understand everything? There were moments when I knew the author talked about stuff from the other books, but fortunately for me it became clear soon that I didn’t need to worry. Although this book is obvious part of a series, it can be read as a standalone.

There is something about this book that just really made me love every single moment of this read. The romance between Rowan and Nick was sweet, and the chemistry was flying off the pages. The paranormal stuff was definitely fun too. I loved the dragons, and the traveler parts. And I loved the fact that this book seemed to be the perfect blend between ‘normal’ and ‘paranormal’. There also was plenty enough romance, and some fun suspense moments too.

If there is one thing that ‘Manhattan Dragon’ made sure, it is the fact that I really like to read the other books in the series too. Genevieve Jack just really had a fun way of writing, that made me hooked to the pages. Yes, the romance seemed a little ‘quick’ but I loved it.
