Bane’s Choice (Vampire Motorcycle Club, #1)

I’ve always loved Vampire stories. Especially when I was in my teens. But lately I haven’t read many Vampire books. So when I got the opportunity to read ‘Bane’s Choice’ I got super excited. In ‘Bane’s Choice’ we meet Bane. Bane has been a vampire for more than 300 years and he has lost his humanity ...KEEP READING »

The Rules of Enchantment

A little while ago I received a review request for ‘The Rules of Enchantment’. Apparently this book was a Paranormal Romance novel, and since I loved ‘From Blood and Ash’ by Jennifer Armentrout, it was thought this book would be something I’d also enjoy. So when I had an empty spot I decided to start reading.

In ‘The Rules of Enchantment’ we meet the exiled sorcerer Leith. Leith spends his days in his castle plotting ways to get the restrictions that the Academy, sort of their government, has put on the use of magic. When the Academy starts to expect Leith being up to something, they send him a beautiful young scribe, someone that isn’t good with magic, named Kyler to spy on him without her knowing. But soon after Leith and Kylar meet things change between them. Leith isn’t as harsh and unkind as being said. And Kylar is more gifted than anyone could have guessed.

This book started of interesting. We get a little peak in Leith’s life, and the mysterious woods he is exiled too. Soon after we meet Kylar, and I definitely enjoyed her character. She was interesting, and didn’t let her being a scribe, dictate her life. She was really fun to get to know. And I was excited to learn more about her.

We also learn a little bit about the setting, the kingdom of Salyndria, but to my opinion not nearly as much as was needed to make me really get this book. There was a lot of mystery about this kingdom and it’s world, and I kept wondering a lot of the time.

And then the major problem I had with this book. The romance. I was disappointed to read that there wasn’t much romance in this book at all. There were a view sex scenes, but they were rather sudden to me and really not that fun to read. The chemistry between Leith and Kylar was something I really didn’t feel. And their moments together felt simple off to me.

In the end I struggled to finish this read. The promised romance just wasn’t there, I didn’t get the setting of Salyndria as much as I would have liked and it just didn’t work for me. If you ask me, this book should be called a Fantasy novel, instead of a Paranormal Romance one, maybe if I’d thought of this as a Fantasy novel it would have worked more for me.

Burning Ash (Forgotten Brotherhood, #3)

Burning Ash (Forgotten Brotherhood, #3)

When I saw the sign up for ‘Burning Ash’ a little while ago, I knew I just had to read this book. Although this is a standalone paranormal romance novel, it’s also the third book in the Forgotten Brotherhood series and I loved the previous two books. So although you can definitely read this book as a first, I loved it even more because I knew the previous books.

In ‘Burning Ash’ we meet Asher, one of the oldest vampires around. As part of the brotherhood and as old as he is, he really stays by himself a lot. There isn’t a lot that sparks his interest anymore. But when he receives an mysterious email, luring him to a place filled with young vampires, he can’t resist to check it out. What he finds is Jo Radcliffe. Jo is a vampire hunter and a woman unlike Asher has ever seen. She is beautiful, but also tough and feisty and for as young as she is.. She seems to be all alone in life. And Asher feels an instant attraction to her. And a drive to keep her save above all else.

From the moment I started reading ‘Burning Ash’ I was hooked. This is just such a fun, sexy, romantic and thrilling series and it kept me interested right from the very first page. Asher and Jo are two very different characters, but they have an instant connection and although they have this major bump between them (vampire vs vampire hunter), you just know they are meant to be together.

Just as in the previous two books, things move rather fast in the romance part. But I for one didn’t have any problems with this. I loved the chemistry between Asher and Jo. And there where definitely some fun and sexy moments between these two.

My favorite character in this book is definitely Asher. Although I loved Jo too, especially since she is such a tough woman.. Asher was just so good. His character is ancient, but I loved to read how much he felt for Jo and how human he always seemed to be. My heart really ached for him and I loved his character just so much.

Thrilling wise this book also definitely kept you sitting on the edge of your seat. There is someone out there wanting to kill Jo, and to make trouble for the brotherhood and it was definitely thrilling to read. A lot is happening, and we also get to read a little about the characters from the first book. And we get a glimpse of someone we get to read about in another book perhaps?

‘Burning Ash’ was definitely a very fun read. I loved the paranormal aspects and just everything about it.

C-26

C-26

When I first saw the cover of ‘C-26’ I was immediately intrigued. Although the title made me think of a Sci-Fi novel at first, the book description about true love made me smile and I definitely wanted to read this book. So I was excited when I got myself an ARC to read.

Right when I started reading, this book blew my mind. I definitely didn’t expect the read to start in 1914, at the night the Titanic sank. If you knew me, you’d know I have this fascination with everything about the Titanic. There’s just something about that ship, the tragic history and the whole idea of the Titanic that has always spoken to me. So when this book started there.. I was ecstatic.

After the beginning in 1914, we meet the two main characters in present time: Sky and Dash. Sky is this writer who loves everything about the written word. She loves reading and writing and often finds herself in her own home surrounded by her books. She was definitely my kind of girl. An introvert for sure, and not someone who is afraid to be herself.

Dash on the other hand is a musician, and someone who loves adventure. Sky and Dash couldn’t be more different. But from the moment they met, they feel this instant connection with one another. And although they life totally different lives, and don’t seem to have anything in common, they soon can’t stay away from each other.

‘C-26’ was definitely a very fascinating read. I loved the whole idea of this book. It was very mysterious and romantic, and it was also definitely very sad. But there was also something about this book that felt a little off to me. Not to much so I that I didn’t like it, but just something that didn’t really make me ‘feel’ the connection and the chemistry between Sky and Dash as much as the story required. I love books where the chemistry between the main characters are flying of the pages. And here this just wasn’t the case.

But the mystery, the fascinating story and the fun characters kept me hooked. The ending threw me a little. It was just so sad and I didn’t expect it at all. I thought something paranormal would happen, but not at all.

Overall ‘C-26’ was a very interesting read that kept me hooked to the pages.

A Kingdom of Flesh and Fire (Blood and Ash, #2)

In April I read ‘From Blood and Ash’, and boy did that book blow my mind. I loved it so much I read it in a day or so. Which is, in my opinion, kind of impressive with a two year old, and a part time job. But it was so good that is became instantly one of my favorite reads.. up there with Harry Potter and the Twilight series. I bought fan merchandise and this book has been on my mind since then.. So when I got the opportunity to read the second book ‘A Kingdom of Flesh and Fire’ through Social Butterfly PR I immediately requested it and was excited when I received my copy. Obviously I still bought a copy too.. but I could start reading before the official release date. Yessss!!

‘A Kingdom of Flesh and Fire’ begins right where ‘From Blood and Ash’ ended. Poppy has found out the guy she was falling in love with isn’t who he said he was. Not only that.. everything she believed in seems to be a lie. And now, while trying to decide what to do and who to trust.. Poppy finds herself in the middle of a war. Her abilities are changing and her heart might be in danger the most.

I was so excited to start reading this book when it arrived. And now I finished it I’m so sad because it is so freaking good!! OMG!!! This series is just blowing my mind and I love everything about it. From the moment I started I was yet again completely hooked. Poppy and Casteel a.k.a. Hawke are just so fun to read about. There little banters are just so fun! There are lots of action filled moments, there’s fantasy and then there is some mind blowing romance. This is definitely one my favorite series of all time!!

Although us readers are struggling to find out what is the truth and who is lying, right next to Poppy. I couldn’t help myself but hope my feelings about Casteel weren’t wrong. We get a lot of answers throughout this read, and also a lot of new questions come up. We get to meet some new side characters, like Kieran, who I loved and we get to read about a lot of new places.

But above all Poppy and Casteel where my favorite characters. I loved how strong and curious Poppy was. And well Casteel.. Lets just say that I loved him and might have a major book-crush on him. He is just so mysterious, hard and dangerous but also kind and funny at the same time. I simple couldn’t get enough of reading about these two.

‘A Kingdom of Flesh and Fire’ was another great read that makes me ache for more. I seriously had to just sit and think after finishing it. And I can’t wait for the next book and my paperback copy to arrive!
