A view weeks ago I read ‘Knox’, the first book in the Merrick Brothers series and I loved it so much. So when I knew there would be a second book, I kept my eyes open for when a sign up for an ARC would come. And when it did, I signed up immediately and was super excited to start reading. Although this book is part of a series, it’s easily read as a standalone.
In ‘Ryder’ we meet country phenomenon Ryder Merrick. As a country singer he has won almost every music price there is. Extremely famous, Ryder is known as a loner. He plays his music, is nice to his fans, enjoys woman, but he rarely talks about himself or is seen with the same band in a new tour. Ryder is a musician because of his love for writing music and playing music and nothing else. One night, he meets Kailey. Kailey is unlike any other woman he has ever met. From the moment they meet, he knows she is different.
Kailey never hooks up with a guy, but when she meets Ryder there is a connection between them that she just can’t deny. And it’s not just chemistry between them.. They can talk for hours. But their chemistry is amazing. But although they have a connection.. Ryder disappears the day after, and Kailey is forced to face the consequence of their meeting alone.
Well.. I loved the first book in this series. But I really loved this book even more. I mean: Wow!!! From the moment I started reading, I was completely hooked. I loved Kailey and Ryder. They where both such fun characters to get to know and I really loved them. Maybe it’s because of my pregnancy, and all those fun hormones.. but this book made me cry several times. It was such an emotional read. Reading about another pregnant woman might do that to a girl.. but it was also just because the writing was so good.
What I also loved about this book was that we got to read some song texts written by Ryder. I just loved that. It made his character even more charming. Not that he needed it, because he was already such a lovely, man-crush-worthy character. I loved how sweet and mysterious he was. And when I read his ‘big’ secret.. Boy, those tears came again right away.
Prescott Lane did a great job with this amazing read. It’s a book I won’t forget very soon.. It was romantic, sexy and filled with emotion. And I for one, wish there is another hidden Merrick out there so we can read another book in this great series.
When I read the book description of ‘Knox’ a little while ago I knew this was a book I wanted to read. One of my all time favorite movies is ‘Nothing Hill’, and I just love the whole Hollywood/ normal guy/woman thing. So this book sounded perfect.
In ‘Knox’ we meet Mae Sheridan. Mae is just a normal woman, living in a small town near a beautiful lake. Mae has her own radio show every Sunday, and she loves her normal life. But when the guy who broke her heart five years ago contacts her, her ‘life’ changes instantly.
Knox is one of Hollywood’s biggest stars. He has made plenty of movies, owns multiple houses, he can have every woman he wants.. But there has only been one woman for him. The woman who broke his heart years ago. When he learns about her radio show, all he can think about is seeing her again.
This book definitely was a great read if you ask me. I read it in one day because I just couldn’t stop reading. This author had a way of making me love this book and it’s characters from the very first page. It definitely checked all my marks for a great read.
The characters where so fun to get to know. Mae is this tough woman, who lives on her own in a little cottage near the lake. She works hard, and loves her nice and quiet life. She loves her family and friends and the only thing that’s missing for her is a nice guy who can make her forget about her first love. Knox is this hardworking actor, who might seem to have it all but who isn’t arrogant about it at all. And when he comes across Mae again, he tries everything he can to win back her heart. And boy did I love their romance.
The setting of this book in that little town was just perfect. I really loved everything about it. And their where also plenty of other characters in this book that made me want to keep on reading. And don’t even let me start about the chemistry between Mae and Knox.. I mean wow!! The thing I probably loved the most, was those cassette interactions between Mae and Knox. I just loved the idea of those.
‘Knox’ was a definite five star read for me. I loved everything about it and I can’t wait to read the next book in the series.
