A view weeks ago I read ‘Knox’, the first book in the Merrick Brothers series and I loved it so much. So when I knew there would be a second book, I kept my eyes open for when a sign up for an ARC would come. And when it did, I signed up immediately and was super excited to start reading. Although this book is part of a series, it’s easily read as a standalone.

In ‘Ryder’ we meet country phenomenon Ryder Merrick. As a country singer he has won almost every music price there is. Extremely famous, Ryder is known as a loner. He plays his music, is nice to his fans, enjoys woman, but he rarely talks about himself or is seen with the same band in a new tour. Ryder is a musician because of his love for writing music and playing music and nothing else. One night, he meets Kailey. Kailey is unlike any other woman he has ever met. From the moment they meet, he knows she is different.

Kailey never hooks up with a guy, but when she meets Ryder there is a connection between them that she just can’t deny. And it’s not just chemistry between them.. They can talk for hours. But their chemistry is amazing. But although they have a connection.. Ryder disappears the day after, and Kailey is forced to face the consequence of their meeting alone.

Well.. I loved the first book in this series. But I really loved this book even more. I mean: Wow!!! From the moment I started reading, I was completely hooked. I loved Kailey and Ryder. They where both such fun characters to get to know and I really loved them. Maybe it’s because of my pregnancy, and all those fun hormones.. but this book made me cry several times. It was such an emotional read. Reading about another pregnant woman might do that to a girl.. but it was also just because the writing was so good.

What I also loved about this book was that we got to read some song texts written by Ryder. I just loved that. It made his character even more charming. Not that he needed it, because he was already such a lovely, man-crush-worthy character. I loved how sweet and mysterious he was. And when I read his ‘big’ secret.. Boy, those tears came again right away.

Prescott Lane did a great job with this amazing read. It’s a book I won’t forget very soon.. It was romantic, sexy and filled with emotion. And I for one, wish there is another hidden Merrick out there so we can read another book in this great series.
