When Izzy Astor gets on a plane to go home, she isn’t expecting much. It’s the usual holiday travel experience: busy, crowded, stressful.

Then she spots her seatmate, who is anything but ordinary. Nate Phelan sports dark hair, blue eyes, and a deliciously rugged charm that Izzy can’t resist. Their connection is undeniable. Izzy never believed in destiny before, but she does now.

Just ninety seconds after takeoff, their plane goes down in the Missouri River.

Their lives change. They change. Nate goes on to a career in the military while Izzy finds her way into politics. Despite a few chance encounters over the years, the timing never feels right.

Then comes a high-stakes reunion in Afghanistan, where Nate is tasked with protecting Izzy’s life.

He’ll do anything to keep her safe. And everything to win her heart.

After reading, and devouring ‘The Things We Leave Behind’ and ‘Fourth Wing’, I knew I wanted to read every book written by Rebecca Yarros. So, when ‘In The Likely Event’ was published on August 1st, I immediately put it on my TBR. Luckily, my sweet bookish friend Renee, gifted me this book as a birthday present, and I started reading as soon as I could.

In ‘In The Likely Event’ we meet Izzy and Nate. They meet on a plane where they are sitting next to each other. They immediately hit it off and start talking. Then fate intervenes, and the plane they are in crashes into the Missouri River. Luckily everyone survives and Izzy and Nate have a connection for life. But their lives are going totally different ways. Izzy is going to college, and Nate is going for a career in the military. Over the years they meet up a few days, their connection still as intense, but they are never in the same place long. And then ten years after meeting each other, they end up in Afghanistan where Nate is ordered to keep Izzy save.

From the moment I started reading ‘In The Likely Event’ I was hooked. I loved how this book was all about fate, and finding the right moment. Izzy and Nate where obviously meant to be together. But especially Nate was determined that they both did the things they wanted first, in the most unselfish way possible. And I loved that. And fate made sure they where never in the same place long enough for them to get a chance at their epic love story. And believe me it was epic!

The story alternates from present to past, and although this is something I often struggle with, in this book it worked perfectly. I was rooting for Izzy and Nate right from the start. Their chemistry was just through the roof amazing. I got butterflies reading about it!

‘Isabeau’s lover, cursed to only see her at dawn and dusk. Doomed to love her but never touch her. Never hold her. Never make a real life together.’

Sigh.. this book had several moments I wanted to highlight so I could read it again. And I could have read about these two characters for many more chapters.

And last, I read some reviews that people where struggling with the Afghanistan bit. I for one loved every aspect of this book. In my mind it was fiction, and I never thought about it from another perspective. I honestly don’t think many people would survive a plain crash either.. Like I said.. Fiction! If you are offended by this book taking place in a war zone. Just don’t read it! But in my opinion, if you’re a romance lover, you’re missing out.
