The boy who broke my heart is now the man who wants to mend it.

Jared was my everything until an ocean separated us and he abandoned me when I needed him most.

He forgot the promises he made.

Forgot the love he swore was eternal.

It was over before it began.

Now, he’s a hot commodity, universally adored, and I’m the woman no one wants.

Pining for a boy who no longer exists is pathetic. Years pass, men come and go, but I cannot move on.

I didn’t believe my fractured heart and broken soul could endure any more pain. Until Jared rocks up to the art gallery where I work, with his fiancée in tow, and I’m drowning again.

Seeing him brings everything to the surface, so I flee. Placing distance between us again, I’m determined to put him behind me once and for all.

Then he reappears at my door, begging me for another chance.

I know I should turn him away.

Try telling that to my heart.

I’ve been reading some great reviews about books by Siobhan Davis. So when I saw the book description of ‘Tell It To My Heart’ a little while ago, I signed up for the ARC. And lucky for me, I got send an ARC not long after.

In ‘Tell It To My Heart’ we meet Jared and Sydney. Jared and Sydney grew up together since their parents had been best friends. What started out as a friendship between them too, soon grew in something a lot more. But things change dramatically, and Jared and Sydney are pulled apart without warning, and without seeing each other again. That is until ten years later. Now Sydney is an artist working at a gallery, and Jared is a hot rockstar. From the moment they meet again, it’s clear that they never got over each other. And after all these years it’s time to find closure.

‘Tell It To My Heart’ was an interesting story. We start when Jared and Sydney are still teenagers and have just started dating. Things are very hormonal between them, and they are both very dramatic. I guess just like a normal teenager. The thing that bothered me in this part of the book, was the way Jared and Sydney did not come across as teenagers at all. They talk like young adults in there twenties and I felt like their age and their story at that point just didn’t correspond the way it should have.

But soon after that beginning, we fast forward to ten years later and the story started to work a lot better for me. The story is told through both Jared and Sydney’s point of view, and I really enjoyed reading how they started to reconnect with each other. They learn some horrible things from their past, some things a bit far fetched in my opinion, and they grow closer and closer again. I really enjoyed the moments between Jared and Sydney.

The romance was fun to read, and I enjoyed getting to know the characters. I loved how things got better for the characters the further in this book we go, and we don’t get the ‘normal’ break up moment. I anticipated that one for sure, but it didn’t happen and I loved that.

Overall ‘Tell It To My Heart’ was a fun read. But not really one I loved.
