Today I’m excited to participate in the Release Blitz of ‘When We Touch’ by Carrie Elks. This is the fifth book in the Heartbreak Brothers series of emotional standalone romances, set in the small town of Hartson’s Creek. ‘When We Touch’ is out NOW!
After reading the first four books in the Heartbreak Brothers series, I couldn’t wait to read ‘When We Touch’. This is another standalone, and the story of the only sister of the ‘Heartbreak Brothers’. And I was so curious about Becca Hartson’s story. So I started reading as soon as possible.
In ‘When We Touch’ we read the story of Becca, the only girl and the youngest of the Hartson kids. Becca works at a Whiskey distillery and she loves her job. But when her well liked boss decides to move away, and give back the reins to his older brother Daniel Carter, Becca is afraid things will change. And they do. Although everyone always adores Becca, Daniel seems to hate her from the moment he laid eyes on her. And soon the feelings mutual. Daniel is a frustrating and infuriating guy. Or isn’t he?
Well.. I love this series and I’m sad to leave the Hartson siblings goodbye after this book, but boy was this the perfect ending to a great series! I knew I was going to like Becca’s character, since I already did the few moments I read about her in the previous books. But I didn’t expect to love her this much. Becca is definitely a great character. She is caring, hardworking and definitely knows how to stand up for herself. And although her brothers make her crazy at times, she does everything for them.
And then there is Daniel’s character. I really did love his character too. Sure, he can be an arrogant ass, and he is really unfair to Becca at times. But there was just something about him that I adored. And I loved reading about the moments between Becca and Daniel. Their chemistry was flying of the pages and they where just perfect together. And I couldn’t stop reading this book till the very last page.
Although I have loved and adored the other books in this series. ‘When We Touch’ definitely is my favorite of the series. I just loved everything about this book and I would really recommend it if you’re a romance reader. I can’t wait to read more books by Carrie Elks.

His gaze dipped to her throat, watching it undulate.
“Tell me what it tastes like.”
“It’s soft. Not too delicate but not too overpowering. There’s hints of vanilla. Not too sweet, just enough to make it feel like the whiskey’s dancing on my tongue.”
“Can you taste the almonds?”
“At the very end. It has a long finish. There are almonds and salt there. They’re sticking to my tongue. It’s delicious.”
“Yeah. It is.”
Every time their eyes clashed it felt like her skin was on fire. This weird, sensual connection between them was so much stronger than before. It felt like it had been distilled until it was almost overpowering.
Her breath caught in her throat, making her chest lift up with the need for air. Daniel’s piercing blue eyes flashed like there was a fire igniting behind them. Neither of them said a word – she wasn’t sure she could speak even if she wanted to.
There are moments when your body knows things that your mind isn’t ready to consider. When every cell in your muscles ache to do the one thing your rational thoughts are screaming against. Becca’s free arm slowly lifted up, reaching for him, her fingers desperate to feel the roughness of his jaw.
In an instant, his own hand shot up, fingers curling hard around her wrist, making her stop an inch short of his face. His grasp burned her, so tight it felt like a vice.
“Don’t.”

This series looks amazing! I love romance series where the books can also be read independently of each other 🙂 I’ve got the first book on KU right now and can’t wait to finish the one I’m on so I can pick it up.
