GoodreadsSometimes in love, the person who’s your future isn't always your destiny…
I was five years old when I met the love of my life. He was my best friend’s older brother, but he was also my friend. We shared popsicles, we hunted for shark teeth on Folly Beach, and told each other secrets. But everything changed when we became teenagers. Brandon no longer wanted to have anything to do with me. I was a pest. Something to ignore. I hated that he tossed away our friendship.
Although he broke my heart, it still fluttered when he looked at me, was near me, and touched me. But eventually he would look away, push away, and walk away. Finally, I realized you can’t make someone love you even if they were supposed to be your forever.
When I read the book description of ‘Forever Perfect’, I knew I wanted to read more about these characters. I haven’t read any books by Alison G. Bailey before, so I was excited to start reading this one.
In ‘Forever Perfect’ we meet Halle and Brandon. Halle is Brandon’s little sisters best friend and they always had this special bond. Brandon always felt protective about Halle. But she has always been off limits. When they are in their teens, they start to grow apart. Brandon keeps hurting Halle with how distant he gets at times. And his jealousy makes things even more complicated.
The two main characters Halle and Brandon where fun to get to know. I loved how Halle and Brandon grew up together, and I loved their connection. I’ve always had a thing for the ‘little sisters best friend trope’ (probably because it’s how I met my husband), and their connection is definitely something that made this book fun.
Throughout this book I felt like I missed something. I can’t really explain what it was exactly. But although their connection was fun to read and the writing was easy to read, this book was not what I expected and hoped for. I missed the chemistry, and I felled like things where a bit rushed in the end.
That gorgeous cover though, is something I can keep looking at. And I definitely still like to read more books by Alison G. Bailey.

The cover is gorgeous! This sounds good
I totally agree.
Sorry to hear this one kind of missed the mark for you, Maureen. It’s hard when you can’t really pinpoint a single issue but you just know something is missing.
Thank you Tanya.
