Today I’m excited to participate in the Blog Tour of ‘Reel’ by Kennedy Ryan. This is a new epic contemporary standalone love story and the first book in the Hollywood Renaissance series. ‘Reel’ is out NOW!
When I first read the book description of ‘Reel’, I knew this was a book I wanted to read. I love stories that take place in Hollywood, and this one sounded really original. I’ve also wanted to read Kennedy Ryan for a while now so this book just sounded like a perfect match. And I was super excited when I received an ARC and started reading ASAP.
In ‘Reel’ we meet Neevah. Neevah is a struggling actor who is making her debut on Broadway after years of struggling to get where she is. She doesn’t expect much of her debut, only to make herself and her friends proud. And what she definitely didn’t expect was to be seen and noticed by the famous director Canon Holt. Canon is blown away by Neevah, and wants her to be in his next movie. And before Neevah realizes what is going on, she is set to be the main character in a new big Hollywood movie.
When I started reading ‘Reel’, I expected a nice romance story. What I didn’t expect was this amazing read. I mean.. Wow. I loved ‘Reel’ from the moment I started reading till the very last page. It completely drew me in and I was hooked. In ‘Reel’ I got so much more than romance and I loved it all.
The two main characters Neevah and Canon are amazing. Neevah is this hardworking, beautiful, kind woman who got betrayed by the people she loved most. Now she is working hard to make something of herself and she is really talented. A great actress and amazing singer.Canon is a workaholic and one of the best directors out there. He is hard on himself and everyone who works with him, but he always gets the best results. And he does everything for his work. He appears a bit like an arrogant ass.. but we soon learn there is so much more about him.
The romance between Neevah and Canon was just beautiful. Their chemistry was flying of the pages from the start and I couldn’t stop reading. I was desperate to know what would happen between them. And I loved the whole Hollywood actor/director part. The part of moviemaking that Kennedy Ryan describes, was something completely new for me, which made it even more exciting to read.
What I loved most about this book, next to the romance, was the fact this book also focused on social issues and themes. Like black culture, and how people react to certain diseases without really understanding or knowing what they entail. The characters in this book where so much more than I anticipated and I’m just in awe of this author right now.
‘Reel’ was an amazing read. So much more than only a romance novel and I loved every single page. And best of all.. next to Neevah and Canon, we read a little about other characters that I would love to read more about. Luckily for me it appears these characters will get their own story. And I seriously can’t wait to read more books in this series.

It’s a guttural command. He bends me over the arm of the couch, and my hands hit the cushion for support, to steady myself. At the sound of the condom tearing, my inner muscles contract, bracing for him. He spreads my cheeks and, slipping his whole hand between my legs, cups the trembling flesh. I’m unprepared for the swipe of his tongue. For the subtle abrasion of his beard scraping the inner skin of my thighs. For the sound of him eating me. He coasts his hand up my back, gently cuffs my neck. Ass in the air, I rise up on my toes, begging for breath, petitioning for more dick. He gives it to me, pushing impossibly deeper.
“So damn good,” he grunts behind me.
I hope I never get over how perfect he feels inside me, like I was molded to his specifications. Shaped for his dimensions. I moan and reach my hand back to pull at one of my cheeks, widening the way for his cock. It feels like he goes where no dick has gone before, deeper, better. Somehow I feel each thrust in my heart. His every touch plays on my emotions, and tears sting my eyes. His hand tightens at my hip, and he slides the other hand up my arm, finds my hand on the couch and laces our fingers together. He sets a frenetic pace that sends the blood singing through my body again. The cushion absorbs my scream as I come, and I punish the soft cotton with clawing nails. With his voice strangled, his fingers fisted in my hair, he comes.
Collapsing against my back, a heavy, happy burden, his breath stilted and warm at my neck, he snakes one muscled arm around my middle, clutching me. After the urgent, feral coupling, it’s a cherishing hold. I cross my arm over his at my waist and tangle our fingers. It’s fragile and sweet, this moment, like flakes of sugar disintegrating on your tongue when you’ve barely had time to taste.

Glad it was so much more than you were expecting. I love that the setting is the Hollywood film industry and they are in interesting roles within that. I still need to read one of her books, too.

Kennedy Ryan is one of my all-time favorite authors and stories like Reel are why. I loved both Neevah and Canon and thought the supporting characters were just as strong. This will definitely be one of my favorites of the year!
