In Gold Valley, Oregon, forbidden love just might be the sweetest… Dane Parker traded in his trailer-park roots for glory as a bull rider. But when a serious injury sidelines him for months, it’s the first time he can’t just pull himself up by his bootstraps. The last thing he wants to deal with is sweet family friend Bea treating him like one of her wounded animals—or the unexpected attraction that suddenly flares between them. Beatrix Leighton has loved Dane for years, while he’s always seen her as another sister. When she enlists his help to start her animal sanctuary, she thinks it will give him purpose. Instead, it brings all the desire she feels for him to the boiling point. Bea’s father taught her early on that love means loss. But could her forbidden crush turn into a love that will last a lifetime?

I love Maisey Yates, and I’ve read several of her books so far. There hasn’t been one book I didn’t love and I definitely plan on reading every one of her books. So when I saw that ‘Unbroken Cowboy’,  the fifth book in the Gold Valley series came out I just couldn’t resist getting the eBook. Especially when I read that this book is about Dane and Beatrix. I’ve read a little about these two characters in Maisey’s other books, and I just couldn’t wait to read their story.

In ‘Unbroken Cowboy’ we read the story of Dane Parker, a bull rider who got into an accident months ago. An accident that injured him badly, and possible ended his career. As a former guy from the trailer-park, Dane has worked hard to get where he is. But now his career is possible over, he doesn’t know what to do with himself.

Beatrix is the ‘odd’ kid. But what a lot of people don’t see is how independent and strong Bea is. Bea is a very passionate, caring woman who is always helping people and animals in trouble. And when her long-time crush Dane needs help, Bea is by his side immediately.

I was really looking forward to reading this book. I’ve read about these characters in the other books, and especially Bea’s character was one I really wanted to get to know more. I loved that Bea always seemed different, a little weird, and loved animals. There was just something about her character that I could easily relate too and that seemed real. And I loved every minute of this book with her character. Bea’s characters was described as: “The person at the party who would be in the corner on her hands and knees making friends with the dog instead of chatting with people.” This just sounds like me, and I loved that.

Although Dane’s character doesn’t seem very nice, I loved him from the start. There was just something adorable about him and I loved how he just didn’t see Bea, until he did. The romance between Dane and Bea was great to read about and I just couldn’t get enough. Their chemistry definitely flew of the pages and I could easily imagine me sitting at a camp fire with those two.

Yes, ‘Unbroken Cowboy’ was definitely another great read by Maisey Yates. And yet again, this book makes me want to read even more books by Maisey Yates.
