childhood. So when the handsome, popular Riley Stinson became her boyfriend in

My Review:
blog tour I immediately really wanted to read this book. The book description
sounded so interesting to me. So when I learned I would be a part of the tour I
couldn’t be more excited.
thirties who spend seventeen years of her life in prison for a murder she
claims she didn’t do. When Phoenix was seventeen years old she fell madly in
love with Riley. She thought they were happy but unfortunately Riley broke up
with her. Devastated and jealous, like teenagers in love can be, she bullied
Riley’s new girlfriend. And that’s when everything went wrong.
town she grew up in, to get to know her son Jacob. Phoenix tries everything she
can to become a part of Jacob’s life. Even if that means she has to risk her
life by being a part of a community that clearly doesn’t want her.
really impressed by Brenda Novak’s writing style. This book is addictive and
heartbreaking at times. Phoenix is this kind, honest and brave woman who happened
to be at the wrong place in the wrong time. I can’t imagine how, but somehow
Phoenix survived her years in prison and now all she wants to do is be a part
of her sons life. Phoenix is really kind and makes sure Riley knows that she isn’t
going to be a burden for him. But what Phoenix doesn’t know is that Riley is
blown away by Phoenix. He is blown away by her kindness and the way she really
thinks she is not worth loving. This book was a beautiful story about how fast
life can change and how things don’t always are the way they seem.
I loved Phoenix and her kindness towards everyone around her, even though most
people didn’t deserve her kindness. I loved the way Brenda Novak was able to
completely pull me into the story. Although I sometimes found some stuff a
little hard to believe, for example the way Phoenix survived prison, this
really didn’t bother me that much. She was just so kind, honest and pure that it’s
hard for me to believe she could survive such a harsh place. But most of all I
really enjoyed this story. I really enjoyed the writing style and I loved the
romance. This book will definitely be in my mind for some time.
