Arctic Bite (Forgotten Brotherhood, #2)

After reading the first book in the Forgotten Brotherhood series ‘Fury Unleashed’ I knew this was a book I also wanted to read. Although this is book two of the series, it can easily be read as a standalone. And don’t you just love that cover?

In ‘Arctic Bite’ we meet Alexei and Cassie. Alexei is part of the Forgotten Brotherhood, a group of paranormals hired to assassinate other paranormals. On his recent case he has to find and kill Cassie. But from the moment Alexei sees Cassie, he knows he isn’t going to kill her. There is something about her that makes him love her right from the start. But Cassie isn’t a regular woman. She has secrets of her own, and although they both feel an instant attraction maybe they aren’t meant to be more than strangers.

‘Arctic Bite’ was definitely a book I enjoyed. Although I rarely read fantasy/ paranormal books, this one was really fun. I loved the paranormal aspects just as much as in the first book. The setting of this book is unlike any other book I read. And I loved the world, and the different creatures. It sure is fun to learn about this world.

The romance between Alexei and Cassie was really fun to read. Their chemistry is flying of the pages. And although I found the ‘instant’ love a little too much at times, I definitely enjoyed reading about their story. I especially loved how Alexei was this big, tough as nails, badass.. but was really sweet to Cassie right from the start.

Their where also plenty of thrilling moments in this book. Their where definitely less than in the first book, but it still kept me sitting on the edge of my seat.

‘Arctic Bite’ was a very fun read and I can’t wait to read the next book in the series. If you’re looking for a fun, romantic, sexy, paranormal, thrilling read.. than this series is definitely for you.

The Trouble with Christmas (Credence, Colorado, #2)

I am a big Christmas lover! I love everything about Christmas and I especially love reading Christmas Romance novels. I seriously could read those all year round. So when I saw the sign up for ‘The Trouble With Christmas’ I didn’t even have to think about it and signed up as fast as I could.

In ‘The Trouble With Christmas’ we meet Suzanne. Suzanne is an artist looking for her muse, and when she is invited by her best friend to stay in a little town in Colorado she just can’t refuse. Desperate for a spark of creativity Suzanne is excited when she finds out she is staying in this beautiful country cottage. And when she meets her handsome landlord Joshua she knows staying in Colorado for a little while is a good thing. Unfortunately Joshua doesn’t want anything to do with Suzanne. Especially after she makes the mistake of telling her parents a ‘little’ lie: Joshua is a Christmas enthusiast.. and her boyfriend.

Well, this book was definitely fun. I was really looking forward to reading this book, since it would be my first ‘Christmas’ read of the season and luckily for me it didn’t disappoint. Especially the main character Suzanne was one I really loved. Suzanne is a little ‘weird’, and when she is nervous she starts to chat like a crazy person. This made me laugh several times. Combine Suzanne with the grumpy cowboy Joshua who doesn’t usually talk at all and you have a great combination. I just love those two.

What I loved the most about ‘The Trouble With Christmas’ was the way this book is written through both Suzanne and Joshua’s point of view. I just loved reading both their sides of the story. The romance between them was really sweet and I just loved the Christmas element in this book.

I also really loved the fact that Suzanne was a painter. Somehow this just really made this book even more enjoyable for me. Perhaps it was the whole painting Joshua without him knowing it part.. but it was really fun to read.

The only thing that I would have liked differently was the ending. It was definitely a great end, but I just thought Joshua changed his mind pretty fast for someone who was so stubborn throughout the book. But overall..

‘The Trouble With Christmas’ is definitely a fun Christmas read I really enjoyed.

What Happens In Vegas (Girls Weekend Away)

When I received the email from Caffeinated PR about the Girls Weekend Away series I got all excited about reading this series. I’m one of those people who’ve never really seen ‘Sex and the City’ the tv series, but have always wanted too. (I did see the movie!) And after reading the book blurb, and reading this book supposedly is perfect for people who love ‘Sex and the City’ I signed up to read this series.

In this first book in the series we meet college friends, Bonni, Ava, Celia and Fredi. Bonni had found this deal for a trip to Vegas, and the girls decide to make it a ‘girls-only’ weekend. Soon after arriving in Vegas, Bonni wins the jackpot and the girls go to a club to celebrate and relax. There Bonnis meets professional gambler Quinn Bryant. As a hardworking detective, Bonni almost never ‘just relaxes’ and she especially doesn’t seem to have time for dating. But when she meets Quinn in Vegas and is instantly attracted to him she decides to take a leap and have a holiday fling.

This book was definitely fun. From the beginning I enjoyed getting to know the four friends. I could easily imagine myself being a part of the girls group and having fun in Vegas. Their friendship just seemed so fun and easy and I really enjoyed reading about them.

Although this book was definitely fun, it had some things I didn’t like as much. For example the part where Bonni and Quinn meet and decide to hook up. It seemed to be only five minutes between them meeting each other and them hooking up. I also think not many woman would appreciate one of their girlfriends going away with a guy so soon in there trip. But.. in this book it definitely didn’t matter because I just loved these four friends and the romance between Bonni and Quinn was just easy and fun.

Bonni and Quinn where definitely a fun couple. I loved reading about them. And although their romance seemed to start very fast, I enjoyed reading how they grew closer and closer. I didn’t get everything in their relationship but I was rooting for them from the start. And especially the second half of this book I loved.

The friendship between these four girls was definitely my favorite thing about this book. I loved their interactions and how different all four of them where. Their conversations where fun and put a smile on my face. And I really want to read the other books in this series to find out what happens to all of them.

Yes, ‘What Happens in Vegas’ wasn’t a perfect read, but I definitely enjoyed it and it made me want to start reading the next book in the series as soon as possible.
