Who’s the Boss?

I’ve read several books by Erin McCarthy in the last year. And I loved them so much. They just have this nice ‘feel good’ feeling about them and it’s been a joy to read her books. So when I saw the sign-up for ‘Who’s The Boss’, I knew I had to sign up immediately. And ...KEEP READING »

Gypsy King (Tin Gypsy, #1)

For the month of October ‘ Gypsy King’ was voted to be Maureen’s Books Book Club new Book Club read. And I was super excited about that. I read about the Tin Gypsy series before, and I knew this was a series of standalone novels. And they sounded so good. When I signed up for book 6 for a Blog Tour, I knew I wanted to read this complete series. So this Book Club read was definitely exciting for me.

In ‘Gypsy King’ we meet Bryce Ryan. Bryce has recently moved to Clifton Forge, Montana to work with her father as part owner of a small town newspaper. After hitting her thirties and no prospects of long term relationships, all Bryce wants is to find a new story. And she things she found one. A year ago, the notorious motorcycle club Tin Gypsy, closed its clubhouse and is supposedly all good now and working as a garage. Bryce doesn’t believe it for one moment. And she is determined to find out more. The only problem is the ‘ leader’ of the Tin Gypsy’s Kingston ‘Dash’ Slater. Dash is extremely handsome, and he knows it. But he also smart and isn’t going to let Bryce destroy what he worked for the last year. But when suddenly a dead woman is found, and things start to look bad for the Tin Gypsy’s, Bryce and Dash might have to start working together.

When I started ‘Gypsy King’ I didn’t really know what to expect. Sure I thought I’d like this story.. but what I didn’t expect was this book being so damn good it kept me up way past midnight just so I could finish it in one day. Yes! This book was really that good.

The two main characters Bryce and Dash are really fun to get to know. And they are definitely an interesting match. Bryce is kind, hardworking, tough and isn’t planning on letting anyone take her away from her next story. Even not a handsome motor guy with gorgeous eyes. Dash has worked hard to get his garage back into the legal side of things. He has many dark secrets, just like the rest of his family and coworkers, and he isn’t planning on letting a pretty face take everything he worked so hard for away.

The chemistry between Bryce and Dash is right from the start flying of the pages. It definitely couldn’t be denied. And I loved how they interacted with each other. And loved how Bryce kept putting Dash back in his place. It was not only fun to read, but the author also had a way of making me feel like I was sitting right beside them. And their where also some pretty sexy moments between them.

But the best part of this book was definitely the combination of the romance and the suspense. On the one hand the romance kept me hooked, but there was also a lot of suspenseful moments and I just wanted to know what was going to happen next.

This book was definitely worth my sleepless night. The writing was nice and easy to follow, the characters where memorable and interesting and the romance and suspense kept me sitting on the edge of my seat. ‘Gypsy King’ was a great book to read as a Book Club read. There was plenty to discuss and I enjoyed talking about this book so much.

And one thing is for sure.. I can’t wait to read the next book in this series!

Every Sweet Regret (Orchid Valley #2)

In May I read the first book in the Orchid Valley series, ‘Every Little Piece of Me’, and I loved it. So when I got the opportunity to sign up for the ARC of the next book in the series, I couldn’t resist. And I was super excited to start reading.

In ‘Every Sweet Regret’ we read the story of single dad Kace and ‘fun’ girl Stella. Kace and Stella have known each other for a long time. Stella is Kace best friend’s little sister. And she has always been the one who isn’t afraid of talking about sex and having fun. She is known for having a lot of guy ‘friends’ and although Kace has always secretly found Stella to be the most sexy and beautiful girl he’s ever seen. But he was married, and Kace is one of the good guy who would never do something to jeopardize his marriage. But know Kace is divorced, and everyone is telling him to move on. But Kace isn’t looking for anything serious, and he doesn’t know anything about casual dating. But Stella knows a lot about dating casually.. and she has had a secret crush on Kace for a very long time.

From the moment I started reading ‘Every Sweet Regret’, I was hooked. I just loved Kace and Stella right from the beginning, and I was excited to get to know them better. Although Kace and Stella have always been sort of ‘friends’, now they are both single and Stella seems to be the perfect candidate to learn Kace how to do this casual dating thing. So they talk, and they both are on this ‘dating’ app where you normally go to find a date. I just loved how Kace and Stella grew closer and closer. Yes, there was a lot of chemistry between them, but there was always so much more between them.

My favorite character was definitely Kace. He was just a perfect guy. A kind and loving father, a great friend, very handsome and sexy.. and he isn’t someone who can just have sex with a woman. He needs to have at least a little connection with someone. And I loved that about him. But although Kace was my favorite, I also really love Stella. But I wish she was a little kinder for herself. Everyone thought she was just this girl who made bad decisions and sleeps around. But there was so much more to her, and she just let everybody think bad about her.

Throughout this book we also get to read a little about other friends of Stella, and the previous two main characters of ‘Every Little Piece of Me’. I loved that. And I definitely can’t wait to read their story.

‘Every Sweet Regret’ was a fun, sexy and romantic read that definitely checked all my marks for a nice romance. I read it in only two days, and that was just because I had to take care of my little girl too. LOL!!

On My Knees (Bridge, #1)

On My Knees (Bridge, #1)

When I was browsing through Netgalley and saw the cover of ‘On My Knees’, I just had to click to find out what this book was all about. Yes, I never heard about Meredith Wild or the Bridge series before. And I have no idea why not?! So after I read the book description I knew this was a book I needed to read. And I was super excited when I got approved to read it.

In ‘On My Knees’ we meet Maya and Cameron. Maya and Cameron where extremely in love in college. But when Maya couldn’t say yes to Cameron’s marriage proposal, their relationship ended badly. Now, 5 years later, Maya has a busy job and a lifestyle that makes her heart unavailable for men.  She lives her life going through the motions, trying to make the best of it. But then one day after 5 years, Maya and Cameron find themselves in the same city at the same moment. And all those sparks that where there years ago are still there when they see each other all those years later.

‘On My Knees’ was from the very first page a book that kept me hooked. We start the book reading about Maya and Cameron in college. And when they broke it off I just got so sad. But heck, I only knew them for 2 or 3 pages. I mean what? That’s definitely my kind of prove that a story is going to be good. And it was.

I loved reading about Maya and Cameron, and how they met again after all those years. Life has been pretty hard on both of them and when they see each other again, they both handle it very differently. Maya wants to run the other way, and Cameron sees it as a sign they are meant to be. And it was definitely Cameron who worked hard to make Maya trust him again. I loved reading about their journey.

I mostly loved Cameron’s character. He was such a sweet and sexy guy. And he loved Maya so much. I loved reading about him, and honestly thought at times he deserved so much more. Why? Well because Maya definitely wasn’t a very easy to like character for me. I found her so frustrating at times. The way she dealt with things, and the way she just seemed to want to be the martyr. I had trouble liking her at times.

Luckily the romance and the chemistry was just so good, it kept me hooked from the moment I started till the very last page. There where some pretty sexy moments and also a view side characters that where definitely interesting.

This was a very emotional, charming, sexy and sometimes frustrating read. And I loved every minute of it. I can’t wait to read the next book in the series.

The One for Me (The Arrowood Brothers, #3)

When I was looking for a September pick for Maureen’s Books Book Club I immediately knew ‘The One For Me’ had to be an option. Yes, this is the third book in a series, but it’s also a standalone series, so everyone could read this book. Luckily for me, this book got voted for the September pick and I was able to start reading.

‘The One For Me’ is the story of Sean and Devney. They have been best friends forever, and over the years, although they haven’t been able to see each other as much, they stayed in touch. Now Devney has been back living in Sugarloaf for years, and it’s time for Sean to life 6 months on the Arrowood farm. So they will be living in the same town again. One night, when Devney is telling Sean about her boyfriend’s plans to ask her to marry him, Sean gets desperate. Although they have always just been friends, everyone always thought they would end up together, and in one desperate moment Sean kisses Devney. And things will never be the same again. Not only because they’ve been friends, but also because they have a chemistry between them that is undeniable. And well.. Sean doesn’t play fair at all.

The story of Devney and Sean was the one Arrowood story I was looking forward to the most. Sean is this famous baseball player and I just loved him from the moment we met him in the first book of the series. So when I dived in I simple couldn’t stop reading. The chemistry between Devney and Sean was definitely flying of the pages. And I really enjoyed reading how Sean worked to get Devney so far she was willing to try a relationship with him.

There were plenty of sexy and hot moments between Devney and Sean, but above all I loved their connection. There’s just this thing about friends becoming lovers. Sigh.. But off course this wouldn’t be a Corinne Michaels book if there weren’t some major obstacles along the way. And this book was definitely a rollercoaster emotional wise.

There is so much going on between Devney and Sean. And when they are finally starting to get an idea of how they are supposed to have a life together, something horrible happens. Something that I definitely didn’t expect and that made my heart hurt. It was just so sad and rough to read. But in a good way. And it definitely kept me guessing right until the very last page.

‘The One For Me’ was a very fun, romantic, sexy and intense read that I enjoyed from the very first page. And I loved this as a Book Club Read too. There was definitely enough to discuss about it. And I can’t wait to read more in this series.
