When We Touch: An Enemies to Lovers Small Town Romance (The Heartbreak Brothers Book 5)

After reading the first four books in the Heartbreak Brothers series, I couldn’t wait to read ‘When We Touch’. This is another standalone, and the story of the only sister of the ‘Heartbreak Brothers’. And I was so curious about Becca Hartson’s story. So I started reading as soon as possible.

In ‘When We Touch’ we read the story of Becca, the only girl and the youngest of the Hartson kids.  Becca works at a Whiskey distillery and she loves her job. But when her well liked boss decides to move away, and give back the reins to his older brother Daniel Carter, Becca is afraid things will change. And they do. Although everyone always adores Becca, Daniel seems to hate her from the moment he laid eyes on her. And soon the feelings mutual. Daniel is a frustrating and infuriating guy. Or isn’t he?

Well.. I love this series and I’m sad to leave the Hartson siblings goodbye after this book, but boy was this the perfect ending to a great series! I knew I was going to like Becca’s character, since I already did the few moments I read about her in the previous books. But I didn’t expect to love her this much. Becca is definitely a great character. She is caring, hardworking and definitely knows how to stand up for herself. And although her brothers make her crazy at times, she does everything for them.

And then there is Daniel’s character. I really did love his character too. Sure, he can be an arrogant ass, and he is really unfair to Becca at times. But there was just something about him that I adored. And I loved reading about the moments between Becca and Daniel. Their chemistry was flying of the pages and they where just perfect together. And I couldn’t stop reading this book till the very last page.

Although I have loved and adored the other books in this series. ‘When We Touch’ definitely is my favorite of the series. I just loved everything about this book and I would really recommend it if you’re a romance reader. I can’t wait to read more books by Carrie Elks.

When Darkness Ends (Moments In Boston, #3)

After reading ‘When We Met’ a little while ago, I knew I wanted to read more books by Marni Mann. I just loved everything about that book. And it made me cry, which isn’t easy to achieve. So when I saw the sign up for ‘When Darkness Ends’ I signed up immediately. And when I received the ARC, I was over the moon excited to start reading.

In ‘When Darkness Ends’ we read the story of Pearl and Ashe who met in college. Pearl and Ashe had totally different lives growing up. But when they met, there was an instant attraction between them and as a reader you could feel their chemistry flying of the pages. Pearl has a hard life. She works long hours, she goes to class, she takes care of her grandmother and she studies. She rarely has a break and has to much responsibility to get involved with someone. But Ashe is determined to make her his. But than something happens..

From the moment I started reading this book I was hooked. The two main characters Pearl and Ashe where very easy to like and I enjoyed getting to know them. They where both so different, but also so perfect for each other. Their romance was just so beautiful and reading this book you get to experience all kinds of emotions while learning their story. Their where also two side characters I really loved getting to know. Pearl’s grandmother Esther, and Ashe’s best friend Dylan. I loved those two.

Sexy moments, funny moments, romantic moments, horrific moments. This book had it all. We read this book through the eyes of three different people, which makes it really intense and exciting. There are also alternating time frames. And although that might sound confusing, it really wasn’t and it kept me guessing right till the end. Marni Mann really has a way of writing I haven’t read before and it really amazes me.

‘When Darkness Ends’ seriously just blew my mind. It’s unusual for me to read a book that is so good, but also so intense that I just didn’t want to continue reading.. But also just couldn’t stop. At one moment I seriously had to tell myself to breath before I continued. I mean wow! Marni Mann did an outstanding job with this read and I can’t wait to read more books by her.

Anything For This Love

When I read the first book in the Wild Hearts series ‘Something That Could Last’ back in 2019, I completely fell in love with the two main characters Abby and Jacob. So when I learned there would be more books about these characters, I got super exited. Last year I read the second book ‘Everything We Left Unsaid’, and now it was finally time for the final book ‘Anything For This Love’. And I was so excited to learn I got approved to read it and I dived right in.

In ‘Anything For This Love’ we finally get to read how the story of Abby and Jacob continues. But life isn’t a fairytale, so the romance and relationship between Abby and Jacob also isn’t all good. And that’s exactly why I love this series so much. It’s real!

Abby and Jacob have been through a lot together, and in this book they try to find a way to make things work, while getting over some of the hurt of the past and insecurities of the present. And I loved reading it. The chemistry between Abby and Jacob is flying of the pages and I was really rooting for them to figure things out. There are some hot and sexy moments, but there are also moments that kept me sitting on the edge of my seat with suspense.

Although I still loved the two main characters Abby and Jacob, I found Abby’s character a little frustrating at times. She was just so insecure, and although I would definitely be completely the same if I was in her shoes (maybe even less understanding), I did find her insecurity a little much at times. But since she always seemed to get past those moments quickly, it didn’t bother me too much. And obviously Jacob’s character was my favorite. He is definitely a very swoon worthy guy. And I loved reading about how he cared for Abby and his family.

There is definitely a lot going on in this book, and time moves by quickly. At one point I found myself wondering why all these aspects where a part of the story.. but in the end I was glad to have read everything.

Next to reading about Abby and Jacob, we also read a little about other characters like Abby’s brother and her best friend. It definitely made me curious about their story, and I really hope we get to read those stories too.

‘Anything For This Love’ was a great conclusion to a wonderful series. There’s plenty to keep you hooked: romance, suspense, family drama, intrigue. I definitely loved reading it and devoured it in a day. I’m definitely sad to leave these two characters behind now, but they sure did get a great ending.

Dating The Player (The Legends Book 1)

In the last year I’ve read several books written by Erin McCarthy. So when I saw the sign up for an ARC for Erin McCarthy’s new series ‘The Legends’, I signed up immediately. And I was lucky enough to receive an ARC not much later.

In ‘Dating The Player’ we read the story of Eloise and Dakota. Eloise is a girl I loved immediately. Eloise is kind of shy, loves her cats, and adores football. And she is currently working at her dream job of managing social media for her favorite football team. That includes Dakota North, a quarterback not only known for his great sports achievements, but also his appetite for woman and his ability to get in trouble. Eloise has always admired Dakota from afar. Now she is forced to make sure Dakota doesn’t get in trouble for posting stuff on social media. Not an easy job indeed.

‘Dating The Player’ was definitely a fun read. I really enjoyed reading about Eloise and Dakota. They couldn’t have been more different. And I enjoyed reading how Dakota slowly got the shy Eloise to come out of her shell for a change. Their interactions where really fun to read, and they made me laugh several times.

The character I loved the most was without a doubt Eloise. She was someone I would get along with perfectly. Kind of a nerdy girl, and not afraid to show the world she was different. But the further along I got in this book, I started loving Dakota more and more too. At first I found his character very frustrating. He was arrogant, rude and talked way to much about his big ‘member’ for my taste. I mean.. did he have to talk about it as much? I just didn’t like that part. Luckily, we got to know Dakota better.. and it didn’t bother me as much as it did in the beginning.

Although I did have trouble enjoying this book as much as I’d hoped too in the beginning, I definitely really enjoyed it in the end. Dakota wasn’t as shallow as he seemed. And I loved the chemistry between him and Eloise.

‘Dating The Player’ was a fun story that makes me curious about the next book in the series.
