I’ve been a huge Carrie Elks fan for a while now. I just love her books so much. So when I received an email about her new upcoming book, the first one in a brand new series, I got super excited and couldn’t wait to start reading. ‘Take Me Home’ is the story of Gray Hartson. ...KEEP READING »

Baby I’m Yours (Angel Sands #5)

Baby I’m Yours (Angel Sands #5)

I’ve loved every book I read by Carrie Elks so far. So to say that I had high expectations of ‘Baby I’m Yours’ is an understatement. After reading the previous books in the Angel Sands series, I was super excited to read the story of Harper. So when I was able to start reading, I simple couldn’t wait and started as soon as possible.

In ‘Baby I’m Yours’ we follow the story of Harper and James. After Harper gets fired from her new job in L.A, she doesn’t know what to do. To cheer her up, her best friend invites her to spend some time in Angel Sands, and to come with her to the party of the year. At that party Harper meets this handsome, charming guy who makes her forget about all her troubles. But when she wakes up after a perfect night together, she finds him gone. Harper is sad but excited to get on with her life.

James has been through the unimaginable. He lost his wife and baby boy three years ago. Since that day he has thrown himself inside his job, trying to forget all the bad things. When one night, his friend convinces him to come to a party he doesn’t expect to enjoy himself. But when he lays eyes on Harper he simple can’t look away.

I loved every book in the Angels Sands series so far. But this book completely blew my mind. I seriously loved it so much and I couldn’t stop reading until I read every page. Carrie Elks was able to write two characters that are so ‘real’ that I can totally imagine them being two real people. Both Harper and James have had a hard time. And when they meet they have no plans or reasons to think life will get better soon. But meeting each other will change everything. And I loved getting to read their story.

And all those emotions!! I don’t know if it’s because I’m a mom myself, but this book made me cry.. Yes, actual real tears several times!! James lost his son!! I can’t imagine. And I cried right along with him! (Really, Carrie? Couldn’t you have warned me?! ) And the whole romance between James and Harper was just so good and it gave me all the butterflies.

The only thing I didn’t like about this book was the fact it ended! I mean: WOW!! The setting of Angel Sands is just as good as in the previous books. And I loved the fact we get to read little bits about the previous characters in this series too.

‘Baby I’m Yours’ was a great read, I simple couldn’t put down! When I read there would be more books in this series I was so excited. I can’t wait to read more stories set in Angel Sands.

Just A Kiss (Angel Sands #4)

I’ve loved every book I’ve read by Carrie Elks so far. And the books in the Angel Sands Series are no exception. So when I heard the fourth book in the series was coming, and it had a Christmas theme, I couldn’t be more excited. A Christmas and Carrie Elks read is my kind of perfect. So when I was able too, I started reading as fast as I could.

In ‘Just A Kiss’ we meet Brecken Miller. Brecken is back in the little town he grew up in after leaving it years ago after his mom died. Now his best friend Lucas is getting married at Christmas, a time Breck normally disappears to escape the day his mom past away all those years ago. But with a wedding coming up, disappearing isn’t an option. And when Brecken sees Lucas’s baby sister Caitie for the first time in years, he is struck by her beauty and kindness.Caitie rarely comes back to the little town her parents and brother still life. But with her brother getting married, and her helping out with the wedding preparations she can’t stay away anymore. And when she sees one of her brothers friends, who she had a major crush on growing up, she can’t deny it’s good to be back home.

‘Just A Kiss’ is definitely a great, fun and really romantic read. I loved this book from the very first page. The two main characters Brecken and Caitie have this chemistry between them that is flying of the pages, and I just loved getting to know them. The whole best friend of her brother thing, is always something I enjoy. (Perhaps because my husband is the brother of one of my school girlfriends LOL) And the whole Christmas thing made this book even more enjoyable. I found myself reading this book till way to late because I just couldn’t get enough.

The best part about this book for me, was definitely how ‘real’ Brecken and Caitie where. They aren’t perfect, and their life isn’t perfect. It really makes this book feel like something that could really happen and I love that.

Next to the two main characters we also get to read about the other characters in the Angel Sands series, and I just love that. It’s like catching up with old friends!! And we also get to read about Caitlie’s best friend Harper, and I can’t wait to read more about her. I read something about her book coming up next. I’m excited.

If you’re looking for a fun, relaxing and very romantic Christmas read.. This book is definitely for you.

Sweet Little Lies (Angel Sands Book 3)

Sweet Little Lies (Angel Sands Book 3)

I’ve been a big Carrie Elks fan for a while now and I’ve been loving the Angel Sands series. So when I saw the sign up for a review opportunity for ‘Sweet Little Lies’ I couldn’t resist and signed up as fast as possible. I devoured the first two books in this series ‘Let Me Burn’ and ‘She’s Like The Wind’. So I was over the moon when I got an ARC to read.

In ‘Sweet Little Lies’ we meet Brooke Newton. Brooke is a single mom and working hard to get her college degree. After getting her son when she was still very young, she is determined to finally get her life on track without help from anyone. But when her first love, Aiden Black suddenly gets back into town after suddenly disappearing ten years ago she is both terrified and secretly excited. Excited to see the guy she loved so deeply, but terrified he will find out her secret.

Aiden was the poor guy and the one who’s family only made trouble. Now he is very successful and determined to show everyone how well he is doing. But seeing Brooke again after all these years makes him feel things he isn’t prepared for.

Well.. This book was definitely another great one. I had been looking forward to reading Brooke’s story ever since I first read about her character in the first book in this series. And although I was a little anxious to finally read her story now, because how could it be as good as I hoped? – I also couldn’t wait and dived in as fast as I could. And thankfully it was really damn good.

The chemistry between Brooke and Aiden is flying of these pages from the start. And I just loved them. Brooke is a character that’s easy to like. Although she grew up rich, she definitely isn’t one to accept things without working hard for it. She is determined to get a degree and take care of her son on her own. I just loved how tough and loving she was.

Aiden is also very kind and hardworking and there characters really where made for each other.

What I also loved about this book was reading about the friendship between Brooke and the characters from the first two books in the series Ember and Ally. There friendship is definitely great and something to be jealous off.

Yes, ‘Sweet Little Lies’ was a great read. And probably my favorite book of the series so far. And now the big question that’s been going through my mind.. Will there be more books in this series?

She’s Like The Wind (Angel Sands Book 2)

Carrie Elks is one of those authors I just have to read everything from. I loved her Shakespeare Sisters series, and I also loved the first book in the Angel Sands series ‘Let Me Burn’. So when I saw the sign up for an ARC of the second book in the series ‘She’s Like The Wind’, I couldn’t resist signing up as fast as possible.

In ‘She’s Like The Wind’ we meet Ally. Ally has worked in her dads little coffeeshop for years. And when her dad sells the shop to a successful businessman without telling her, she is hurt and shocked. But Ally is determined to not show her emotions to much, and she decides to work for the guy who now owns a part of her history. What she didn’t expect was her feelings for the older, single father Nate.

Well, after reading the first book in this series and reading a little about Ally, I was super excited to read her story. And boy did I love Ally. Her character was just so relatable and ‘real’. Ally has lost her mom as an little girl, and it has been her father and her for a long time. Ally has stayed in the little town she grew up in, and she loves and knows everything about the town. She has her two best friends and that’s all she needs. But Nate changes everything for her.

The chemistry and romance between Ally and Nate is just amazing. I loved those two! Nate is thirty nine and has a sixteen year old daughter and he really isn’t looking for love. But when he meets Ally he can’t seem to resist her. The connection between Ally and Nate was so fun to read about. And I loved how this book was told from both Ally and Nate’s point of view.

I haven’t read many books involving a romance between two people with an age difference of more than ten years, but I loved it. And it definitely showed that age doesn’t really matter all that much, if you like and want the same things love can definitely be enough.

Although I loved the first book in this series, I absolutely adored this second book. I just couldn’t stop reading and loved every minute of this book. Carrie Elks definitely did another great job and I can’t wait to read the next book in this fun series.
