In the last few years I’ve been reading a lot of books by Corinne Michaels, and I’ve been loving all her books so far. So when I saw the sign up for this new book by her, I knew I wanted to read it even before I read the book description. And when I did read the description, I got super excited. So you can imagine how I reacted when I received an ARC, and I started reading as soon as possible.
In ‘You Loved Me Once’ we meet Serenity Adams, a doctor trying to find a cure for cancer. Serenity’s past makes her a great doctor, but also someone who closes herself off for love. But doctor Westin Grant is breaking through her walls slowly but steady. That is until Serenity’s past comes walking through the hospital doors, and endangers everything she worked for.
‘You Loved Me Once’ definitely had a different feel about it than the other books by Corinne Michaels. This book is a little darker than the other once but not less good. From the moment I started reading I couldn’t put this book down. I loved the fact that two of the characters in this book where doctors, and it mostly took place inside a hospital. As a nurse working in a hospital myself, this was definitely a nice change and it felt kind of familiar.
The romance in this book was also different than the usual romance in Corinne Michaels her books. And although it took me a little while to really love the romance as much as I usual do with Corinne Michaels her stories, it was pretty damn good in the end. I mean Westin.. Sigh.. What a swoon worthy guy. I did find Serenity a bid frustrating at times though.
There where a few moments in this book that where very emotional. It definitely made me tear up. Corinne Michaels really knows how to write these intense stories and ‘You Loved Me Once’ is definitely one I’ll remember for a while.
In the end I loved everything about this read. It was different, angsty, romantic and had some very nice characters.
