If you’ve been following Maureen’s Books, you’d know that I love Christmas, and I love Cowboys. So a Christmas Cowboy story is something I simple can’t resist. So when I received a review request for ‘Home for a Cowboy Christmas’ I got my Netgalley copy and started reading as soon as possible.
In ‘Home for a Cowboy Christmas’ we meet Emmy Garrett. Emmy has been on the run since she witnessed a murder. Now things get even more dangerous, and the Marshal in charge decides to hide Emmy away on the Range of an old friend. Dwight Reynolds has been living his life, taking care of his family Range after a career in the army, FBI and home security. When an old friend comes by needing a space for Emmy to hide away, he immediately agrees. From the moment Dwight sees Emmy, he wants to take care of her and promises to do anything in his power to keep her safe.
‘Home for a Cowboy Christmas’ was a fun read that I definitely enjoyed. The two main characters Emmy and Dwight are very likable, and their romance was really sweet. I loved how Dwight wanted to take care of Emmy, and how charming he was. He definitely was one of the good guys. Emmy was also fun, but I don’t feel like we got to know her all that well.
There was also a bit of suspense in this book, but it wasn’t all that much considering we start this book right in the middle of Emmy’s big escape to the range. I thought it would be a bit more to be honest.
Although ‘Home for a Cowboy Christmas’ was a fun book I enjoyed reading, it wasn’t as great as I hoped. The romance was definitely a bit instant, especially from Emmy’s side and I missed the chemistry. It was also a bit predictable, but not in a bad way. Overall, a fun romantic Christmas read.
