He’s a single dad. The father of her student. And the chemistry is off the charts…

After an accident ends her big city ballet career, Cassie Simons is ready for a brand new start, moving a small town to help run her best friend’s dancing school.

From the moment she meets her new students she knows she’s made the right choice. The kids love her, she gets to spend lots of time with her bestie, and the flashbacks to her car crash are slowly starting to dissipate.

The only fly in the ointment is moody single dad, Pres Hartson.

From the moment they meet - when Pres is running late picking up his daughter from class - sparks fly between them.

It doesn’t matter that the man is all muscle and grit. Or that her heart skips a beat every time they bump into each other. He’s trouble with a capital ‘T’ and she’s had more than her fair share of that.

Since he lost his wife three years ago, Pres isn’t interested in women. And definitely not in his kid’s dance teacher, no matter how good she looks in a leotard.

All he wants is to raise his daughter in peace, to build up his construction business and to keep his matchmaking family off his back.

But then Cassie joins the band that Pres and his brother play in for kicks. And before long the two of them are making sweet music together.

He shouldn’t touch her, he knows that. She’s too young and innocent, and he’s way too broken to start a relationship.

The only problem is, he can’t stop himself…

I’ve been reading Carrie Elks for a few years now and I simple love her books. Every book she writes is a hit for me. So when I received the ARC of ‘That One Touch’, the second book in the Heartbreak Brothers Next Generation series I started reading as soon as I could.

In ‘That One Touch’ we read the story of Presley and Cassie. Presley is a hardworking single dad, who spends his days doing everything he can to be the best dad to his little girl. After losing his wife in a car accident three years ago, he has a lot of guilt, and all he wants is for his little girl to be happy. So he works hard, and spends time with his family. Dating or doing anything for just him, hasn’t happened in years.

But when Presley meets his daughters new dance teacher Cassie, he is immediately attracted to her. And although he tries hard to keep his distance from her, Cassie is the one woman he can’t seem to stay away from. Especially since Cassie looks at him like she wants him too. Even when Presley is a huge grump, Cassie doesn’t seem to want to keep her distance from him. And soon Presley isn’t able to keep his distance anymore.

‘That One Touch’ was a great read that I enjoyed right from the start. One of my favorite things to read about are the grump vs sunshine tropes, and this was definitely the case in this book. And I loved them. Presley is a huge grump, and Cassie is always trying to keep things positive. From the moment Presley and Cassie meet, their interactions are a lot of fun. And I especially loved how Cassie was slowly breaking down Presley’s walls.

The romance and banter between Presley and Cassie was wonderful. I loved getting to know them and reading their story. There was plenty of steam, and a lot of swoon worthy moments. One of my favorite things about this book where the moments between Presley and his little girl. It was just so fun to read about those two.

The next best thing was being back in Hartson’s Creek, and reading about some of the other characters we got to know in this series. And yes, this book can easily be read as a standalone. But the fact that I know all these characters makes it feel extra cozy.

About Carrie Elks

Carrie Elks writes contemporary romance with a sizzling edge. Her first book, Fix You, has been translated into eight languages and made a surprise appearance on Big Brother in Brazil. Luckily for her, it wasn’t voted out. Carrie lives with her husband, two lovely children and a larger-than-life black pug called Plato. When she isn’t writing or reading, she can be found baking, drinking an occasional (!) glass of wine, or chatting on social media.
