Normally I’m not the kind of person who makes up New Year’s
Resolutions. Not because I think their weird or that they don’t work, but
mostly because I just don’t think about making goals for a new year. I mean, it’s
just the start of a new year, nothing has changed. But this year I’ve been
thinking about making New Year’s Resolutions. Not because I think I’m living my
life the wrong way, but because I think I can definitely gain more energy and a
less stressful life if I change some things around. Not only in my book
blogging life, but also in my life as a nurse and just my normal everyday life.
I’m not making promises though!! And I will make a new post about how my New
Year’s Resolutions are going in a view weeks. So make a note 😉
Eating Healthier:
No, not at all. I don’t even like most candy. But we do like to eat things that
are easily made and not particular healthy. The main reason for that is that we
both work fulltime and when I’m home from work I don’t really like to spend a
lot of time in the kitchen. And I’m not very good in thinking of new ways to
make salads, or green beans or other vegetables. Most times we eat pasta, or
potatoes with a salad that’s already made in the supermarket. Not really bad,
but definitely not healthy all the time.
So this year my goal is to eat more vegetables, eat more fruit and try to eat
more fish and les meat. I’m trying to pick out easy but healthy new recipes
that I can make within the hour. I already started this weekend:
The first one is Pasta with homemade Pesto, Grilled Turkey, Asparagus and Peas. The second one is Risotto with Smoked Salmon. |
Yoga:
back from our holiday in Mexico and I was feeling a little stressed about work
and life in general. I’m a perfectionist in everything I do, and because of
that I made my life a little too stressful. I just don’t know how to slow down
at times. So what I was searching for was something relaxing, something that was
good for me and something that was just for me. In Mexico I saw some people
doing Yoga, and although I had some reservations about it being not for me.. I
decided to sign up. And I really enjoyed it. But like everything in my life I couldn’t
take it easy. I went to Yoga two and sometimes even three times a week, next to
my work as a nurse and my book blogging. It became too much when my I got more
responsibilities at work and I had to take a break for a little while. Well,
this year I’m going to start again but my goal is just going ones a week. If I
have a lot of free time I can always go but it won’t be my goal!
Reading More Books I’ve Bought Myself:
Ever since I started blogging in March 2014 I’ve received
a lot of review requests. Even though my review policy says I don’t accept new
requests, people keep sending me their books. And I have a very hard time
saying no, because I just love to read everything and I don’t want to disappoint.
This year I’m setting more boundaries for myself. I have to read at least one
book a month I bought myself. Like for example the Lunar Chronicles by Marissa
Meyer. I’ve been wanting to read that series forever but last month was the
first time I was able to read the first book ‘Cinder’, because I’m just to
booked. This year I’m doing things differently and taking more time for the
books I want to read.
Relax more:
this is definitely one of my strong sides, I need to let go of doing EVERYTHING
perfect and accepting that I can’t control everything. This is definitely
something that will be very hard for me and I don’t exactly know how I will achieve this goal but I think it’s
definitely something I NEED to do. I think I’ll definitely be more relaxed if I
achieve this goal.
Did you make any New Year’s Resolutions or goals this
year? What would you like to change? Do you have any tips for me?

I can identify with all your goals. I too find it hard to relax and always over commit. I'm always trying to find balance and sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. I took a huge break from the blog at the end of last year and I'm glad I did as I needed the time for other things in my life. I'm working hard at healthy eating too and I try find easy and healthy recipes to try at least once every two weeks. I did find loads last year that are now favourites in our house so my list is growing 🙂 Good luck with your goals Maureen, you can do it!
Thanks Trish. I really hope I can reach my goal, but I'm very positive about them so that's good.
We seem to have a lot in common then! 😉 Good luck with your goals too!!
Those are some really good lifestyle changes. I'm pretty sure that yoga would be very difficult for me, though I'm thinking of joining a class once my semester is over (I'll have a particularly difficult first couple of months of it.) It's probably just what I need.
Thanks! Yoga is also very hard for me since I'm not flexible at all and I'm really not the sporting type. But it is a lot of fun and it's more about trying than really being able to do all those moves. Good luck with your class and I hope your able to try a yoga lesson in the future. 😉
