Welcome to the Wednesday’s Favorites post. In the Wednesday’s
Favorites post I will talk about a book I loved and that I think deserves a
little more attention. I read popular books, but also many books that aren’t so
popular (yet). In this post all sorts of books from all sorts of genre’s will have
a chance to shine. Today’s Wednesday’s Favorites is ‘Billy Bobble Makes a Magic Wand’ by R.S. Mellette, a book I read in January.

“E=mc2 is no longer the most powerful force in the
universe. Your wand is.”
Twelve-year-old Billy Bobble and his best friend Suzy
Quinofski didn’t mean to change the universe. Billy, a quantum physics prodigy,
just wanted to find a way to help his hoarding, schizophrenic mother – and
maybe impress a coven of older girls in high school. Suzy, his intellectual
equal, wanted to help her friend and cling to her last remnant of childhood, a
belief in magic.

Together they made Billy a real, working, magic wand, and opened a door to the
Quantum World where thoughts create reality, and all things – good and bad –
are possible.

Praise for ‘Billy Bobble Makes a Magic Wand’:

Summarizing, Billy
Bobble Makes a Magic Wand is a perfect coming of age book for late tweens and
early teens about the magic of science and conquering your fears to grow. I’m
very much looking forward to reading Billy and Suzy’s next adventure.
I found the plot
to be fascinating and well thought out. It was both humorous and intense at
times making the story absolutely consuming. ‘Billy Bobble Makes a Magic Wand’ is a great read. Perfect for middle
graders. I highly recommend picking up a copy.
I really enjoyed
this one and read the book quickly. Eager to find out what the ‘trap’ might be
and how things would turn out. This is a pretty serious book and I like how the
issues were dealt with. I can’t wait for the next book!
This book is very
adventuress and definitely makes you want to read more about Billy Bobble. It
was an easy to read book and the writer definitely makes sure you can’t stop
reading. Great job, R.S. Mellette!
