Since January 2015 I have a weekly post on my blog called
the Sunday’s Author Spotlight. Authors can sign up and I contact them as soon as
possible with a date and information I would like to receive. It’s a lot of fun
but also a lot of work.
Every Sunday I write a post about one author. In this post
I write about their books, add buy links, have interviews with them, guest
posts, giveaway’s etc. I write down everything the author wants me to write
about and add everything they would like. I share the spotlight on all my social media
accounts and try to do this again a view days later.

I really love doing these Sunday’s Author Spotlight’s. It’sso much fun to make these posts and I love getting to know all those different
authors and their books.
But what does bother me is the way some authors don’t take
the time to respond, comment, tweet, email or whatever about their posts. Most
authors are very kind, appreciative and really really thankful but some just
never contact me anymore. Not even a thank you or a nice job. I have no idea if
they even saw the post. This is a little weird right? I try not to let it
bother me, but it kind of hurts when you take a lot of time to make something
for them and they don’t even take the time to send a thank you.

Do you email them the link or tweet @ them. As a VA I can tell you some authors are just scared to reach out. They are told not to comment etc.
Yes, I always email them with a link, I send a tweet and I tag them on Facebook.
If they don't want to comment on social media that's fine.. But I think an email back isn't to much to ask. :S
Sorry, but I think it's lame when you go out on a limb to help someone and they don't even bother to thank you. In the end I guess it's part of the game and you have to let it go, but it still bites chunks. Anyway you have my empathy!
Thank you. I do agree that's it’s really lame. But thankfully most authors share there thanks with me.. They totally outweigh the ones that don't! 😉
I will say, I think many of us *sincerely* appreciate it. Perhaps others are overwhelmed with other things and therefore don't take the time to get back to you? (Just a guess?) Whatever the case, it's a big thing you do, and as an author, I want you to know how much it is appreciated. <3 <3 <3

Maureen, I love hearing about authors that I have never heard about before but it sounds like a lot of work for not a lot of return. Why don't you do it less often and then other days do something that might generate a lot more visits to your blog (like joining in with Kim's The Sunday Post). Just a suggestion, like I said I enjoy reading them but I also know how much work they must take. I find the Sunday Post is a lovely meme to join as you really get to connect with a lovely circle of bloggers who faithfully visit your blog every Sunday and leave meaningful comments that set me up for the week.
That's a great idea Trish. Lately I have been thinking about joining The Sunday Post. Especially since I really like reading them on other blogs. I haven't done a post, because of the Sunday's Author Spotlight. These spotlight's are definitely a lot of work and sometimes I even do promo posts throughout the week because authors approach me for them.. Maybe I can join The Sunday Post on Sunday's and do promo's for authors on other days in the week. Hmm.. definitely worth thinking about. Thanks for the tip Trish! ;).
