After reading ‘Hooked On Her’ by Stacey Lynn a little while ago, I knew I wanted to read more books in this series. So when I saw the sign-up for ‘Fighting Dirty’ I immediately signed up and got super excited when I received the ARC. Although this is book five in the Ice King series, ...KEEP READING »

Hard to Handle

When I started reading ‘Hard To Handle’ it took me a while to really get into this story. Not that it was a bad beginning, but it just took me a while to get everything. But luckily, after reading the first few chapters I started to get hooked. And before I knew it, I couldn’t put this book down at all.

This book is definitely exciting in the way it almost feels like the best of multiple worlds. It’s a sport romance, there is also a enemies to lovers bit, and a second chance romance part that I definitely enjoyed. Although I’m not a very sporty person myself, I really enjoyed getting a glimpse of the sports world. Especially the Ice Hockey part. I can easily imagine me visiting a game like that.

The two main characters Decker Kincaid and Hunter Maddox have definitely a lot of chemistry between them. When they met years ago, the had a enemies/friends with benefits thing going on. But when things got to tough, Decker ended things. Now almost three years later, Decker is forced to spend time with Hunter again. And there is still a lot of chemistry between them. But they have to stay professional with each other now. Unfortunately this is not an easy task. Especially when Decker sees how much Hunter is hurting.

I rarely cry over books and stories. Not because I don’t feel touched by books, but I just don’t cry that often. Well.. ‘Hard To Handle’ definitely changed that. OMG!! I cried my eyes out like two times while reading this book. My husband thought I was going crazy! After I started getting into this story, I simple couldn’t get enough and it was so touching and so beautiful. Yes, I loved how Decker and Hunter grew closer and closer. But I loved the story how Hunter slowly became less troubled even more.

But why did this book touch me so much you ask? Maybe it’s because I work at a Traumatology department and see how easily things can change drastically every day. You leave your house to go to work, and bam… you get into an accident and your life changes forever. Some people can never walk again. Some people don’t even survive.. And part of this book reminded me of the patients I see every day and their stories. And especially that 18 year old patient with paraplegia I cared for a few years back. This story made me think of him.

‘Hard To Handle’ was a romantic, sexy, heartbreaking story I loved immensely. And I can’t wait to read more books in this series about Decker’s sisters.

Hooked on Her (Ice Kings, #3)

I haven’t read many sports romances. But when I read the book description of  ‘Hooked On Her’ I knew this was a book I wanted to read. There’s just always something about best friend’s little sisters romances that I really love.

Right from the very first page I was pulled into this story of Tessa and Jason. Tessa has loved her brothers best friend Jason for a very long time. But he has always been out of her reach. Over the years she has seen him with a lot of different woman. And since she was always just the ‘little’ sister Jason acted like another brother to Tessa. So Tessa has tried to move on. But now her ex-boyfriend messed up her life really bad and she decides to stay with her brother for a little while. But Jason has never thought of Tessa as just a ‘little’ girl. He always wanted her.. but never could have her. Now he is done watching her with other guys. He is taking a risk and goes after what he wants.

‘Hooked On Her’ definitely was a fun read. I really loved the chemistry between Tessa and Jason. It was sweet, sexy and really fun to read. I also really thought it was pretty obvious that Jason was into Tessa, but maybe that’s just me. LOL!

Jason’s character was one I really enjoyed. He really worked hard to be the best in what he did. And I loved how he worked to get Tessa attention. Sure he could have been a little more clear about what he wanted, but his actions where very sweet. And the fact that this story’s point of view alternated between Tessa and Jason, really worked perfectly.

Tessa’s character was not my favorite though. I don’t really know why.. but I just didn’t really like her most of the time. You get to read about how much she wants Jason, and the next she doesn’t want him or something? It really confused me and I wanted to shake her multiple times. Luckily, in the end I began to like her character more.

The sports part in this book wasn’t really on the for front. But I loved the sports elements that where in there. I’m not a very sporty person myself, but I always love the whole idea of being a professional athlete. And I definitely loved Jason and his teammates.

Although ‘Hooked On Her’ is the third book in the Ice King series, it can easily be read as a standalone. I did. And this book worked perfectly as a standalone. The only thing it did was make me want to read the other books in the series too.

The Hardest Play by A.S. Teague

I’m not a very sporty person. So when I saw the sign up for a Sports Romance, I wasn’t really convinced this was going to be a book for me. But after reading the book description, I found myself intrigued by this read. So I signed up, and was excited when I got send an ARC. ‘The Hardest Play’ is my first A.S. Teague novel.

In ‘The Hardest Play’ we meet Quinn Miller. Quinn looks like someone who has it all. He is a professional football player, has the looks, is very rich and he has friends who would do anything for him. But Quinn life isn’t as perfect as it seems. But he is happy with the way things are. Mostly. But when he meets Georgie Reed, he is blown away by her personality and her charms. But life isn’t usually kind for Quinn very long.

When I first read about Quinn’s character, I just knew he was someone I was going to love. And I sure did love him. Quinn is so much more than a handsome rich football player. When he lets lose, he is charming and just a very ‘good’ guy. So right from the start I was really rooting for him and Georgie. Georgie is one of those girls who knows she is good looking, is confident but not arrogant. And she was perfect for Quinn.

Although the romance between Quinn and Georgie, moved very fast and we didn’t get to witness their first ‘real’ meeting, I loved these two. They fitted each other perfectly. And I enjoyed reading about their building relationship.

This book was supposedly a sports romance, but I just consider it a romance story. Yes, the character is a professional athlete, but there isn’t too much talk about sports at all. Which was definitely a plus for me. And although the romance was good, I loved the whole family connection in this book even more. Georgie’s family, and Quinn and his sister.

‘The Hardest Play’ was definitely a very enjoyable read for me.
